Car temperature sensor or what?
Tuesday, May 16, 2006 10:51 PM
hey guys, help me here. recently I've notice the chug sound coming from the radiator fluid coming out the radiator reservoir cap, but my car shows normal temperature. Then I notice that my fan doesn't turn on to cool the car down even when the reservior is spitting out fluid. I turned on my AC and the fan does work fine, just the problem with the car not sensing the temperature of the engine and turning on the fan as needed. And again the temperature guage inside the car shows normal temperature. Got any ideas? would it be something like the sensor or something?

I think youre temperature sending unit is faulty. I would replace that sensor that should correct youre problem.

sounds completly normal and you need a new res. cap. Your fan obviously works fine

but the fan doesn't kick on when I just leave the car running for a while, normally it kicks in after 5 minutes or so if I were to park it after I driven it a little.

Replace the fan Relay

its not timed, its by temp one of my cavaliers will never kick on because it doesnt reach 210 degrees, the other one reaches in it about 5min of being parked and the fan kicks on, if it works when you turn your ac on then it works, the gurgling of the coolant is completly normal as it is damn near boiling, there is alot of pressure and heat in the cooling system. you just need to replace the cap its like 5.00 a 15lb rad. res. cap and your good to go these other people are just guessing from who knows where
