question on adding coolant/water
Tuesday, May 09, 2006 7:07 PM
so, as i was working in the engine bay, i messed around w/ the coolant tank, and i dont know from where, but some pink coolant spilled on my floor. it wasn't a lot, probably a pint or so. my coolant level looks low in the tank, but not low enough to trigger the sensor and CEL. this said, since it was only a small amount, can I just add a little bit of water to the tank to top it off, and since its only a small amount, it'll still be "around" the 50/50 mix?

You're right about the topping off idea. What're you doing with pink stuff in there? If you didn't absolutely flush out the orange coolant, you may have gum-up problems. Orange don't mix well with others. Only works alone.

Sometimes the coolant looks orange and sometimes it looks pink so you could confuse one with the other, but yes you can top it off with just some water as long as its not too much.
