Clutch HELP!!!
Friday, April 28, 2006 2:23 PM
Ok here is the scoop, I bought a centerforce clutch (with pressure plate) but no slave cylinder or release bearing included. Now the problem, my slave cylinder is leaking so I need a new one. hence the reason for changing the clutch. The dealers around here are telling me its 200+ for the slave and another 200+ for the release bearing. Or I can buy the whole kit for 400... which is slave, release bearing, clutch and pressure plate. This doesn't sit right with me so I just bought the slave cylinder and it has a bearing on the outside of it which I believe is the release bearing but everyone here tells me the release bearing is a separate thing that fits into the slave.

Someone PLEASE HELP! is the release bearing another 200+ dollar part or are the people around here morons.

I drive a 1997 Sunfire GT

Thanks

yup i paided 300$ cnd for my release bearing/slave cylinder. They bearing comes with spec clutches but not the center-forces. I say return the center-force and pay an extra 100$ for the spec with the bearing. I know i should of.

Go to Advance Auto, they're about $100, they may have to order it, and it is indeed one piece, the dealer's full of stuff... Also, ive got a 98 Sunfire GT, think it was the same part #.

Ahh ok ok, i heard there were two types, one is an internal slave like mine and the other is external with the bearing on a set of forks. this is just what im told, again not trusting their opinions anymore.

But anyway, I should be ok with the slave I bought then? it does have a bearing on the end of it. heres a link and it will show the slave I bought.

Yea got it their but the the ones who are messing with me, atleast the ones I talked to in this town. But list price was $273.00!! luckilly my buddy has a body shop and gets parts at a discount so I paid $160.00

So the slave cylinder I've shown on my cardomain is all I need? I dont need to purchase anything else? (besides clutch and pressureplate)
