The other day I was making a left turn onto a main road I notice a weird rattle sound like tin can sound, I am guessing could be a loose heat shield? Noticed as well its doing it if I push the throttle hard from a stop. Transmission has been serviced, No slipping right fuild and level is correct. Ive 01 cavalier 4 spd auto 2.2L. I am also wondering if my lower and upper mounts could have an effect on this too. Ive been told that could be a solution to the problem.

try rattling the heatshield around when the car is off... try shaking the exhaust around to see if its hitting the shield, and maybe try and rock the motor, see if the mounts make the noise...

Update on the rattling sound. Just the other day I had time to check things out, Ive defitinely got some play in the engine mounts, I guess I will start off with odering upper & lower poly mounts, And start from there, I dont know how this 4 spd auto tranny mount is going to be to replace. If any one has done the tranny mount 4 spd auto, Plsz guide me.
