Shifting problems, clutch, trans???
Wednesday, April 05, 2006 4:54 PM
I'm having some shifting problems with my 98 cavalier z24. Ever since I put in my Spec Stage II clutch along with a rebuilt trans its been having problems going into gear sometimes. Some times when I try to shift into 1st its extremly hard and sometimes it feels ok then gives me a little grind like the clutch wasnt in all the way, but it was and the fluid is fine no air in the lines no nothin... Only thing I can think of is maybe bad shifter cables some how got mess up? Seems unlikly but I can't figure it out. Some days its perfect but thats once every 10 days and the other 8 days its not to bad then the 1 day its stiff as can be for most the day. Could it be the master cylinder? Let me know if anyone has info or links that may help me, thanks.

The first thing you always do when checking a clutch problem, no matter what it is, is check clutch freeplay.
