Service Light: ABS & Trac Off
Monday, April 03, 2006 6:15 PM
So the other day as I was going to get an inspection, out of any other day, I turn my car on and to my surprise the Service light comes on and on the right side the lights ABS and Trac Off are on. Thank God they turned off when I went to get my inspection (i turned my car off at a friends house just before and they didnt turn on).

So I get home another day, park my car in driveway, the same lights turn on. Then I drive it again, and they don't turn on. But today when I was leaving work and backing out, I felt as if something was *stuck* while having the brake on slightly and again, the lights turn on. I can stop fine, its just the lights turn on. (i dont feel the car jerking (hehe) when I press the brake at a stop light).

Can someone tell me what Service ABS/Trac Off means? Im sure it deals with that, what can be the outcomes, and is it pricey? What isn't pricey these days. But I would like some info if anyone has had this problem before. A friend of mine told me to take it to Autozone and have them do a diagnostic test and see what it says, but I don't have time until Thursday.

Thanks in advance.

Shouldn't be a big problem. I have the exact same problem with my car...Check
you're fluids under the hood and take it to autozone only if you're car throws a "check
engine" light...I think you're friend was smoking something when he told you that.
Good luck.

lmao never take that dudes advice

it sounds like you have an abs wire on the verge of going look behind each one of your wheels there is an ABS sensor. One of mine was rubbing aparently on something and would do the same exact thing.. one day the wire completly broke and the light always stayed on. It sounds like you have the same problem or maybe even some moisture in one of your plugs if the seal broke. Either way inspect the sensors and wire harness' to your abs and you should be good to go. If your getting a CEL and you get it read it might tell you th exact wheel. Im not sure with your year.

its sad that this pizza boys.. car is paid off.. both of them anyway this is the maintence forum not 2nd grade bitch forum. You never help anyone here or in any other forum. Sogo back to posting ur stupid weekly "should i, or should i not" posts

his abs light is on your telling him to "pop the hood and check fluids".. Brake fluid POSSIBLY but doubtful. Go change your blinker fluid man there low.

CavOnNothing: quit being childish
your solution is to check fluids? ! ? ! lmao
im with brandon on this one. ive had experience with this and it was a broken wire so when youve got some time pull the wheels and check the wires going to the sensor which is on the right side

Whats up people?

thanks for the (some lol) responses. Will do just that.

If i keep riding the car and lets say this wire totally *brakes* could it still be driven and I brake normal...just wont have that anti-lockness? How much would it be to replace the wire?
