I was just wondering, I have the AEM CAI on my car and the other night my buddy told me that in the summer time with all the hot air coming off the road the intake will get heat soaked, I was just wondering if this was true and if it is true what could i do to prevent this.

Yeah, 'heat soak' is what the engine goes through/into when you shut it down when it's hot. Factory intakes usually pull in air from the fender well area, behind the sheetmetal. Running at highway speeds would keep the air in there cooler than pulling in air from the engine bay. True cold air intakes are the first ones to hit 'fresh air' before it passes over/through/into anywhere else.

When you're sitting in traffic during the summer, your intake might, and I mean might, get a tiny bit of heat soak, but it's nothing to be concerned about. I'm running a metal intake and even with the car idling in the garage with no air flowing over the engine, the intake never warmed up to the point I couldn't leave my hand on it. And in the unlikely event that it does, and the air gets too hot, the computer will automatically compensate by adjusting fuel and timeing anyway. Basically what I'm saying is don't worry about it.
