hey guys gotta a question do you all have any idea what type of engines will easily fit into a 2001 Z24, I need to replace mine but not sure if i have to put the same exact one in, i found a SRT-4 2.4L Turbo engine but i dont know if it will work......I NEED ANY ENGINE THAT WILL WORK THANKS GUYS
a 2.4 from any Gm car between 00 and 02. 99 can work without changing anything but some use the old stuff.
Btw, if you think you can swap an srt engine right in, you need to step away from the car because you don't have enough knowledge to take out your engine.

you might be able to drop a 2005-2006 Colbalt SS Engine... i havent seen this happen yet but
it should still work with some minor modifications...
2001 2.4L DOHC
150 HP @ 5600 rpm
155 ft lb @ 4400 rpm
05-06 2L Colbalt SS
205 HP @ 5600 rpm
200 ft lb @ 4400 rpm
Supercharger compressor
-1,998 cc 2 liters in-line 4 front engine with 86 mm bore, 86 mm stroke, 9.5 compression ratio, double overhead cam and four valves per cylinder LSJ

Didn't someone put in a SC eco motor in from a wrecked Red line awhile back? i know it was the 05 with a 2.0 and standard TB but still.
I'm going searching in the mean time
The 2.4 is a good motor for a cav and I suggest you stick with it. At 19 I'm pretty sure you don't have the fabrication and electrical experience to try to adapt another engine. I work as a maintenance mechanic and have to weld and do electrical wiring and troubleshooting at work and I still wouldn't do it. I could just be burned out on working on machinery everyday though, and I don't wont to discourage anyone but slapping an srt engine in their is gonna be some work if you do it.
Thanks guys looks like we will be putting another Z24 engine in, I have a really good friend who owns a shop that was gonna help me put whatever in as long as it was to much of a pain but hey I will be more than happy to learn just how to replace the correct engine. You all have any ideas where good place to get one is?? Still considering a cobalt SS 2.4L too
you can get one at the junkers or if you want to get one with a warranty and , know it works when you get it, you can order one from Autozone or Advance auto. its a special order thing.
