Ive got a 2.4l in my 2000 cav
and late one night i was coming around a corner and I was at 2000 rpms, as I proceeded to accellerate my car began jerking really hard as well as the rpms. when I pulled over to check things out I was massively backfireings really loud I think is my fpr and not my plugs(they would go one by one). I thought it was my leaky fpr but the I replaced that, then was the plugs, did it nada nothing,replaced the coils still no effect.
wellfor a cheap laugh the cat was not only glowing so was my side out straight pipe, meaning its gotten worse the only things I haven't check was time(lets face it no one wants to check the chain) and the pcm. last night I went to a 24h autozone, and yes I know what a phenomenon,and I couldn't get them to scan the pcm that they only went up to 151 and I had a 156(by the way what does that mean.)after that I couldn't get her to go past 20 so I parked her and left so can any one help ?

I'm thinking the catacomb inside you cat is broken up and a piece of it is blocking air flow and your not getting all the exhaust out thus causing back fire and having everything heat up right up to the cat but nothing past that. it happened to my daytona 3.0 v6 5- speed. it ran still but only 1/3 of the power putt putt brrrrrrr putt putt bang puff...

I think im going to take off the intake mani just to be sure no valves were bent
well I check evey thing i CANT FIND THE REASON FOR THE BACKFIRE. IS THERE A WAY TO SET TIMING WITH OUT REMOVEING THE ENGINE. OR A VERY FAST WAY TO.
