okay heres the deal i have a 97 cavi coup 2.4 with 140,000 on the body and about 90 on the motor. I got this car off of my buddy about a year ago cause he needed the cash for a new truck so i go the car for 3,000. The car needs a new tranny which i can get a rebuilt one and installed for 1,300 and the motor is starting to make a tickin sound so im not sure whats up with that. But what do you guys think should i get a new tranny and maybe buy a used motor that i can tear apart and build it or should i just cut my loss's ?

I'd say time for an ECO swap !! Find a wrecked low mileage 03 or up and go with that.

You got a 97 so I don't know how hard it is on yours sorry. As for cost it all depends I've seen guys on here score ECOTECs and the trans and all the wireing and BCM for a whole $500.00 before and that was for a low mileage one. Just look around.

easier said then done. You can find a used tranny pretty cheap 2-400.00 and just have it installed.
