Ok...so I've kinda been letting the Z sit in the yard and well I kept putting of cranking it to make sure the battery was ok. Well the red top optima has let me down. Its DEAD! I had enough juice for the alarm to churp, but that was it. It didn't unlock the doors and of course it couldn't pop the door poppers either. Now, the problem is the doors do still lock when I arm the car, but the lock rods are gone because before the alarm I wanted to make sure I couldn't get locked out of the car. SO even though I can get a coat hanger on the door handle, its not going anywhere because the door is still locked. My only thought at this point is how to get under the hood. That's where you guys come in handy....How does one go about doing this from outside the car?
Please Help me if you can.

I'd say call AAA or a locksmith. They'll come out, put an air bag type thing in the door and pump it up. This will actually open the door enough where they can get access to your inner door handle or lock. I was pretty surprised when I saw them do this, but they said on our cars its better than trying to pull the rod inside the door.
you got a vert. how bad you really wanna get in?
Posting info on trying to pop the hood from underneath is ok, but no info should be posted on how to open the doors and such without keys. That's just not the sort of information that should be easily gained here.
If he could use a regular method of getting in, he could call a towtruck or locksmith and they'd get him in.
Sorry man... it's just better for everyone if that info isn't posted.

Info that could also be emailed or PM'd to me. I basically wanted to know how to get to the latch under the hood...that's all I was looking for. If anyone wanted into our cars bad enough, they will find a way...I know...mine's been broken into twice.
Everyone else, thanks for the info...as soon as it stops raining I'll let you know if I have any luck.
thanks again,

I don't know dude, I'd take yours in a heart beat...that thing is sweet!
I understand where Wild Weasel is coming from though...but posting lists of mods like stereos and what not doesn't help protect people either...someone could totally log on and get a list of who has what and for the most part the location of the car. This is one of the things that makes the internet suck....there is alot of info out there that if the wrong person got ahold of it, they could do some damage.

This trick works for just about all cars.... lay down on ground in front of car.... reach up under bumper, find the hood release cable.... pull... HARD.... you'll pop it.
I did that on my d00ds PT Cruiser when his battery went dead after he bagged it. (The constant running of compressors took its tole on an old battery) So I just got in through the grill and pulled real hard on the cable and VOILA!
Good Luck!
p.s. you should get a manual release cable and hook it up to your door.

LOL...yeah, that might come in handy. If I drove the car more I wouldn't have this problem though...it worked fine when it was still a daily. Guess I'm just going to have to drive it till the wheels fall off to get the most out of it.

I PM'd you... you can do it the way I said, or Lenko's way... I've tried both, they both work. My way just doesn't involve much pulling, nor do you get that sudden pop when the hood latch is released

Yeah, I know. And those aren't the people I'm concerned with. I'm concerned with the idiot kid who reads it here and thinks "That doesn't sound so hard... I think I'll try it..." and then goes and jacks up someone's ride trying to break in to steal the change out of the ashtray.
Id pop the trunk latch, and the unlatch the back seat, thats if you still have all that stuff? and that way when you get all that done you will be able to crawl into your car and unlock it. i had to break into my 2000 cavalier, lol, took me 3 hours to figure out how to do this...

The locksmith pulled the rod on mine and got it open. Only later did I realize the rod going to the outside lock had come off. Had to take the door panel off and it was still a PITA getting two hands in there to hook the rod back up.

lol the idiot kid?.. wow pops a HOOD? what is he gonna do crawl thru the firewall into the car? Only thing this would be useful for to disarm an alarm. someone stealing change from an ashtray im sure wouldnt be messing with a car with an alarm anyway. Most alarms wont even go off if you break a window and most people know it. its when u pop the door open it goes off.
