well the timing belt broke on my car and it has bent some valves.... and since some valves are bent im just gonna assume that the a piston or a few of them are damaged.... i have an 02 Ecotec and when it happened i was just turning 50K..... it seems to me that is really early for a timing belt to even think about braking.... anyone know of any recalls or anything that could help me out here?
Last I heard, they had a chain, not a belt. the only belt is the serpentine witch do not do any harm when it brake.

^^^He is correct it is not a belt it is a chain and they should last wayyy longer than that, you might want to investigate other possible causes besides just breaking like what caused it do do that?

yeah i guess im pretty much screwed with this one huh? any ideas on what could have cause the chain to break? i mean im like totally blown over this cause im lookin at a pretty high repair bill..... would it be more worth my time to just start lookin into other engines? or should i just get the ecotec fixed?
Hey what kind of Civic is that? Its a what? A cava-what? Cavalier? Who makes that?
Its odd yours failed before 50k, the one guy said he had over 200k on his Ecotec.

there was a problem with the 02 eco. The timming chain was weak. Check your dealer. There may be something they can do.
