I've been trying for days to get the valve lash set on my motor and no matter what I do, I can't get the rockers to stop rattling. I know these motors have an inherent tick, but not like this. My old motor never had this issue. My friends think poly locks would do it. Anyone know where I can get them and what size I need? They're 10mm, right?

Poly locks stop the rocker from loseing it adjustment. Are the factory pinch nuts backing off ? Oh that and as far as I know Poly locks only work on roller rockers. They are nice tho. I had a set years ago on my Pontiac.
If the nuts are backing off just replace them they are cheep enough. But be careful! Your messing with stuff that will wipe your cam if your not.

Yeah, I just bought a new set of nuts from the dealership and they're still backing out. I'm seriously thinking about double-nutting these to see if that will hold them. Or maybe loctite I dunno. I'm just getting tired of them coming loose. I've had this car only for a little while and it's already p*ssing me off.

Now your SURE they're backing off ? Are you counting and keeping track of the # of threads showing ?

I didn't count the threads, no. But when I tightened them down, they stopped. I drove aroiund for a while, and the y started rattling again. When I pulled the cover off, some of the nuts were only finger tight. That tells me either they're backing off or the studs are stretching. I happen to favor the first theory.

Um, there are 3 more options that it could be. But do this first, count how many threads
show when the nuts are on. Wright down what you find and drive around till you hear it then re-count them and see if its the same amount. if its not then you are correct and they are backing off. If the # has not changed you are in for a bad day. Either the cam is wiped and its loseing its adjustment due to the lobes wearing off, or you have a lifter issue, or the studs that the rockers bolt to are pulling out of the head. All 3 are possible and I hope none are the case. Go do the count and drive and re-count and let me know what you found.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Thanks, bro. I'm hoping the cam isn't shot, but then again, my friends are convinced I break my car on purpose just so I can "fix" things with racing parts. He may be right. Wish me luck! It's probably going t obe this weekend before I work in it at the latest. I have some parts on order and I'll wait til it all gets here and do it all at once.

Good Luck and let me know how things go for you.
