HOW MUCH OIL DOES EVERY ONES 2.4'S CONSUME? I DONT HAVE ANY SMOKE COMING OUT OF MY TAIL PIPE BUT ITS ALWAYS LOW AFTER 2 WEEKS. I DRIVE KINDA HARD BUT ALWAYS LET IT WARM UP 2-4 MINUTES BEFORE EVEN MOVING THE CAR.

it all depends on how old it how much its been abused ect. older more abused cars burn more oil. when you do an oil change next time try a heavier oil like 10-40 and a can of engine restorer.. its the lil aluminum can thats looks like a soda can. my car use to burn alot of oil per oil change and now barely uses any

i use quaker 10-40 oil
and a can of the engine restorer at oil change

i may go back to 10-30 now tho considering it burns very little and see what happends

idk if 10-40 would be a great idea in ottawa this time of year, but i go through a little, cam tower seals are also a culprit for me

you might have oil leaking into the cooling system from a faulty head gasket, but most likely your just burning it due to engine wear

I'd be more inclined to believe the coolant would make it into the cylinders and be blowing white smoke if the head gasket was bad. If you're burning oil, and there's no bluish (oil) smoke coming from the exhaust, there's gotta be a leak somewhere.

it may just be somthing simple like the oil pan too ... look at the bottom of your car and make sure the oil bolt is tight enough for starters. ..

nice pic with the caps locks didnt know it bugged people lol
the plug doesnt leak at all or the pan, filter, i would notice cause i do my own oil changes.

I have not changed the head gasket i had the car since 93000 and now it has 160000kms on it so i'll keep a eye on the white smoke too.

no black/blue smoke at all. but guy at maidas said the tranny fluid was low but looked like oil to me with i put it on my finger? it was around the bell housing.

Is there a main seal on the crank that could be leaking inside the tranny?
cams towers probly okay cause changed the plugs last summer and looked clean.

but if the oil and coolant are getting mixed what colour would the coolant be?

i think i use a litre evey month or four holes on the dipstick and my friend laugh when i check the oil and says his is fine/same year, same car.

next oil change i'll try the 10w 40
oh yeah no over heating at all maybe under heating lol
thanks for the imput

I'm against putting a higher viscosity oil in a car not designed for it, it can actually cause more problems, due to engine tollerances.

Brandons right that engine restore stuff is amazing. I'd run a can of that thru your car, then see if it makes a difference. It made my Bonneville at 70,000 miles run like a new car again.

I'd guess a leaky gasket somewhere otherwise so look all over the car after cleaning the engine bay, even the oil pressure sensor can spring a leak (had this happen before).
