Coolant Temperature Sensors

I was thinking of trying to diagnose the problems with sensors, especially the Coolant Temperature Sensor, which has a major effect on the fuelling etc of the engine.

I thought it would be a good idea to be able to simulate the sensor with a resistor- a lot cheaper than buying a sensor and finding it was NOT the problem.

This idea could also be made to work by temporarily replacing other sensors thought to be problematic.

So my first web seach found this link:-

www.mightyautoparts.com/pdf/articles/tt67.pdf

which includes the resistance range for the GM sensor simulator and how to use it.

Just thought it may help someone out there to save a buck

(Also proves that most ideas have been invented before)

If you get a repair manual (Haynes, Chiltons, etc) it should tell you what the readings of most sensors should be using a meter.
