well I got my oil changed, so after I left the place, the car was shifting weird and the speedo wasn't working. Then after I stopped at a light the car wouldnt shift past 1st..

this is a 2002 OHV 4speed...

anyone have this kind of problem before? my parents are trying to blame the oil change place but I dont think it was their fault or am I wrong? I go there all the time.
thanks in advance

Speedo not working more than likely means your VSS isnt working. Since it just so happens your VSS is also the input to the ECM for the vehicle speed, and the ECM tells the trans when to shift when certain speeds are reached. So anyways your ECM doesnt know how fast the car is going, so it enters limp home mode, sometimes called fail safe. The computer decides when to shift the trans based on other sensors, mainly MAP which is also a speed density sensor.

So the first thing I'd be doing is making sure the VSS is plugged in, if it is I'd then make sure there is no corossion build up on the connector, as that creates resistance.

Good luck
