I've put up with the problem for a while now, and now that warm weather is around, I want to fix my driver door. I have a 2000 Cavalier (4 door) and I can't open my driver door from the inside. I'm getting really tired of rolling the window down to get out. I made an attempt to look at it today, but I'm not sure how to get where I need to be. I unscrewed the 5 screws around the outside of the door, as well as the 2 by the door handle and the one by the mirror adjuster. I popped out all the clips that hold the trim to the door and quickly realized I can't get it off because of the window crank. I tried everything to get the window crank off, and it just won't budge. So my question is: How do I get that dang window crank off, and is this even what I need to do to get to the inner workings of my door??
Special tool you can buy it at Advance Auto for like 10 bucks. It slips between the crank and the door panel and pops off the clip that holds the crank on. Sometimes you can use a screwdriver if you know wht you are looking for.
As to your problem, it sounds like a door lock rod poped off. No biggie once yo get in there you can just pop it back in place.
Good Luck

A very easy way to remove the "Jesus Clip" from the window crank is an old rag.
Push the door panel in some, slide a rag in between the crank and the panel and slide it down until it grabs the clip. It will hook it, remove it, and it wont go shooting down the street. Save the $10 and use a crappy ol' rag.
Thank you both for your help. I'll take a look at it again this weekend.
Never heard of the rag trick but hey if it works ! Great tip Dan !
