so i searched but could not find (sigh*,
i have an 04 4 speed cavy, and its about time to change the transmission fluid. Could someone tell me what i need. I want to put synthetic in, some LSD oil, and a new filter. What is the proper way of doing this.
How much ATF fluid do i need, what filter do i need, do i need any gaskets, then lastly how do i go about doing all of this, thanks!
i just did this to my 2.4 2 weeks ago.. I went to auto zone and bought a filter and gasket for $25.. then 6qts of tranny fluid(should only need 4-4.5 but i got 6 just in case) Best thing to do is buy a Haynes Manual or a Chitlons.. my haynes walked me through everything and it worked great... the one thing i dont like is there is no dip stick.. just a fluid check plug, and there is no drain plug.. u gotta undo like all the back bolts and just loosen the front too and tip it careuflly to pour all the fluid out.. But i don't know if or by how much the 2.2 eco is different for doing this.. also make sure u torque the bolts down.. ithe manual tells u how to do everything.. best 15 i've spent for my car..
^^^^ AGREED. haynes will walk you through it.

You should have it all flushed out at once. Otherwise you have some new and some old, which doesnt do much good.
Most shops have a machine that flushes it out, and replaces what it flushes as it takes the old fluid out.
Just removing the pam, you wont get any of it out of the torque convertor by the way.
