Losing Antifreeze...
Friday, January 20, 2006 9:50 AM
Today.. I leave my house and i am heading for school and coolant light appears on my dash, So i arrive at school and I pop my hood and open my reservior tank and i am extremely low on coolant... Now I have been putting coolant in it like crazy here lately.. it seems to be leaking somewhere but i can't find a leak. I walked out there during lunch break and saw a 3 x 3 foot puddle of antifreeze. Now its seems to be leaking on the left side of the engine bay, next to the reservior tank, and it looks to be next to the exhaust heat shield... Is that where the water pump is located? and could it be a hose that would start leaking that fast like.. over night? or is my water pump just gone bad... If anybody knows let me know! Thanks

By left side you mean drivers side? Cause the water pump should be on the passenger side.

Ok to help you out you always refer to the sides of the car as if your sitting inside it behind the steering wheel. The passenger side is always the right side and the drivers side always the left. ( except where you drive on from the right side of the car but we wont get into other countries cars )

Then that would put your leak right where the water pump is.

Please do not think I was saying any of the above to be a dick I was just trying to help you from makeing the same confusing mistake in the future.

If you got that much fluid loss it.'s a hose or the pump.

the water pumps have a weep hole designed to let coolant out when they are failing. you probably need a new pump
