5.00 tool from auto parts store , some wd40 and 10 minutes
is what is needed to remove the filter , unless its rusted from lack of cleaning road salt off
also this needs to be in maintence forum , not in performance so you know
man i had to take mine to a shop too cause i couldnt get that damn thing off. i actually ended up breaking off the plastic quick release thing lol.

I don't know it the eco's are different but to get my FF off the plastic clip snaps at the bottom and then you have to slide the clip up. When you push/slide it up it the line should slide right off the filter. Then unscrew the other end. Its hard to explain but i hope the make sense.
If your interested in custom aluminum tilt wheel levers hit me up!
The dealer!!
I went to get my regular Oil Change and make sure everything was running nice. Told
the guy
- "just an Oil change" Thanks!!
-"ohh.. by the way, can you change the fuel filter too"
(I couldn't get mine off so I thought maybe they knew the trick to replace it hehe)
Went to pay my Bill.
$85.00 DOLLARS!!!
I think GM did that on purpose to make us go to the dealer
i have a 97 gt but it might be the same
...........on the part where the 'inlet' of the filter is, you take a wrench and put it inbetween that plastic thing nd the filter, lever the wrench so the plastic thing pushes out away from the filter, and in toward the fuel line. use your other hand to kinda wiggle, push and pull (You will end up using a pretty good amount of force with it, but be reasonable) and it should come off. if not, drive to alabama and i;ll do it just so you don't have to go to the stealership
i just sprayed the treads wit wd 40 waited bout 15 min then loosened the bolted part and i bought the tool but i jsut yanked the other end outta the hole, oh yea watch out alotta feul gets on u lol, but other than that its pretty easy to put back together
wow thnx....but what i actually did is what one guy on here said jus cut the thing off .....and what i did is buy a fuel line hose and got some clamps and put that 2gether and bamm.....so i think that solves my ??'s ...lol thnx......but by me doin that is also a best method!!!!..oh yea sorry bout me putting it up here on tha perfomance!!!!!! my bad.....
oh wait a min ...this is a maintence forum........so i was right buddy....thnx.....i did put this in the right spot.....you jus thought that you were.....in performance thang!!!!!!
How often should a fuel fiklter be replaced? How much do they run$$???????
Thanks.

Eric & Erick, WD 40 is a light lubricant (Water Displacement formula), next time try PB Blaster or Kroil, you'll get better/quicker results. Good luck.

is there a reason why every one of your post has 400 ....., !!!!!, ???????
they are not that expensive like $5 $10 bucks forgot but no more than $10 ....if i remember correctly.. my book say;s every 24mnths...(2yrs) or....30,000 miles which ever comes first!!!!.........
haha 85 bucks. owned..
wow what kinda filter did you get!??!!i be buyin them advance ones and shtuff!!
my mother in law's race car is sponsored by PB Blaster. its good stuff. i get it for free whenever i want. got a few tshirts too...they say "don't bust your knuckles, bust your nuts."
i called her right now and sent her a link to the thread. she was all happy and crap and is forwarding the link to the owner of Blaster.
GO PATS!!!
I don't know why this is so difficult. The one end (towards the engine) is held in w. a bolt---take two wrenches and twist. The quick-connect is just that. I acutally think I cut it off (or was it on a Malibu). Just look how it is assembled and take it off with pliers if you have to. So what if you break the plastic, the new one comes w. it anyways! Just remember, it's all nuts and bolts, just different sizes and different places. Hope this helps!
Ban low-performance cars, not high-performance ones.
in my manual it says quote: ( Squeeze the plasticquick-disconnect tabs together and pull the fuel line away from the filter) and next quote: ( Loosen the fuel line fitting with a flare nut- wrench - be sure to use an open end wrench on the filter as a back up. thats exactly what it say. thats how i changed mine... hope this helps ya out man. good luck...
