ok, here's my dilema....I'm looking at this 2nd gen 94 Z24, 5spd, 125,000 miles, straight body, good interior, new tires....now the bad it needs a clutch and has some electrical issues...when you tap on the brake when sitting still the motor surges up to 1,800 then down to 500 a couple times and stops, and the lights flicker when you tap the brake too, I got the guy down to 1,000 cash, i will put the clutch in and dont mind doing the work for a car that i want. the other car I'm looking at is an 01 ls cavy 2dr with the 2200, 130,000 miles, 5spd, new tires, and supposedly a new clutch and starter was just installed, has a 12 inch crack in the front winow, they want 1,800 firm, 1,800 is what i got, i don't want to spend any more than that, this is a work car for me, i work construction, but its slowley going to be a project car for me, we have an 04 f150 and an 06 SS/SC, so i dont need to drive it every day. So my question is, would it be worth it to buy the z24 and fix it with the 800, or just get the 01.......oh yeah, I had a 92 auto z24 in highschool then traded for a 97 2.2, there's just something about the 2nd gen z24 that i like, think its the v6 sound, but then again i could drop a 3400 into the 01? what should i do, pleas help?
Well from a DD standpoint, the 2200 is going to net you better gas mileage than the V6... If all it needs is a windsheild and is otherwise sound... might be less of a headache than the Z. Electrical issues can turn into a nightmare. IMHO the exterior styling is also more attractive with the 3rd gen, but that's just personal opinion... So for me it's a no-brainer, and I'd grab the 3rd gen... but if your heart is set on a 2nd gen...
You can find a better Crapalier for cheaper than $1800/1000.
