Looking at a 96 Z24 5-speed and was wondering what would be some good things to check for? Right now I know the alternator and battery are shot on it and I think its called the output bearing (its where the cv shaft goes into the transmission if its not the output bearing let me know what its called) is leaking and I guess was clunking before it was parked and its got a few other minor things wrong with it. I'd be able to get it for around $300-400 and was a little worried since that seems pretty cheap. I'm going to do a compression check on it and I checked out the ball joints and wheel bearings on it and they all seemed good and I took it for a short drive and it seemed to drive pretty nice. There was a clunking noise coming from the back passenger side which I'm guessing is just a bad shock. Thanks for any help!
the clunking in the rear is more than likely a bad upper strut mount. the things are junk.
a running base model is worth that much, so for a $400 z24 you aint going to go wrong. ive seen a lot of the time people wanting around that for blown motor'd z's....

^^ Thats a car were going to be working on soon...we work on mostly city cars and our specialty is firetrucks but we work on other peoples cars to just not as much.
Well I tested the compression tonight before I left work and it was 220psi across the board. But I took it for a drive again and it seems to be down on power and would hesitate when shifting into the next gear and getting on it, especially into 4th. Could that be fuel pump/fuel filter related? Thanks
