This is actually kinda funny... maybe someone can clarify?
I was just curious about de-coding my vin and everything so i went over my vin along with the
vin de-coder in the library here on Jbo... Im curious if there is an error in that faq or on my vin it self...
My 5th digit is an S - according to the
vin de-coder that means its a Buick Skyhawk.. I have a Cavalier LS, and the code for that is F (i wasnt sure if that only meant LS sport, so i was guessing it would be a C for Cavalier or an F for LS/Z24... But i have an S.. anyone else have that?
Not that it really makes a difference... i mean my vin comes up as a 2002 Cavalier Ls, on HPTuners, and for insurance and everything, just something I noticed....
It's not so much an error in the FAQ, as it is a lack of the later model years information... I think the VIN stuff was accurate up to around 2000... after that, it's pretty much hit or miss because I haven't had a chance to add all the later model codes. There's alledgely some book on General Motors production numbers, but I've never been able to get my hands on a copy. Maybe I'll hit up the library here someday, now that they're back open after the strikes...
I know there's an H code used in 03-05 as well, but I don't know the extent of it.
Yea, I had a feeling that might be the case.
Didn't know if mine might be a special case, hence the "s"... haha
