Hey everyone I have been gathering the stuff to do this for a little while now. I just got home from Florida and everything was mailed in while i was gone. Now all i need to do is make them!
Packages:
This was crazy... the projector kit was rapped in a black back, 4 layers of bubble wrap, a brown bag, and then wrapped 100% in yellow tape... lol:
Out of it's wrappings:
Goodies inside:
HID Kit was just in a plastic shipping bag... that's it..:

And i bought the clear lenses like 9 months ago:
I will be pulling my headlights out here soon. I was waiting for the rain to stop. I will post more pics up later!

I was going to ask you a few weeks ago if yu had clear lenses because I was a lil concerned, but I see you got it all taken care of. Sweet.
I'm going to be looking forward to this build.
Yeah me too... all the wiring seems complicated and i am a little nervous if i will have hi beams, buut we will just have to see.
Just got my headlights out and it started to rain. So now i will be removing the dust gaurd and so on.
The wiring does look crazy at first, but its really easy. Just wire one headlight at a time.
Oh and your not going to need those extra wires/relay that came with your hid kit. You just need the ballasts thats all.
wiring is very easy on those kits.
if you need help, hit me up in pm.
Putting this thing back on the back of the headlight will be a pita... anyways... there is one breather hole i can't get off the back of it. It shouldn't hurt not having it if i were to cut it or leave it bake off, right?
God I hate you right now. You want to do mine when your finished with yours. Cant wait to see them finished in person.
03 Sunfire - Sold.
Yeah i know man, we have to find a good time to go to one of the car shows.
Lol i can't wait to see them done either tbh. And as for doing yours, we will see how well these ones turn out first, shall we?
Maybe we can find some glowing balls to put inside yours! Lmfao.... that was a fun night.
lol, your a jerk. I don't think id put the money into this car. As for a next car, we'll see. Have you thought about painting the inside of the housing. I was thinking that Redmetal cast paint would look cool in there.

That would look pretty cool.... That is a good idea. BUUUT as of right now i would like to just get this sucker done. I am having a MAJOR issue right now....:
I baked them and now this is happening.... grrr. The lense doesnt seem to be moving at all, the housing itsself is cracking. Anyone with another way to do this or any advice to continue to do it this way?
uhoh, not good. If you have to, PM John Benham for advice, hes like the current projector guru. I know the plastic would be brittle. What temp are you baking to, and are you pulling them apart as soon as they come out.

LOL,
CorKey, there are issues using this kit in the 03+ sunfire housings. Nothing then cant be overcome, but I am currently working with a set that has one problem after another. Not to mention, they dont offer an H11 projector kit at this time......so there is some custom work involved in using these in the 03+ fires.
GT, i am guessing you are using your old factory lights to build off of. The plastic on these lights is brittle to begin with, but when you add years of aginf onto it.......they are VERY hard to seperate w/o breakage. you can plastic weld the pieces back together, but the best bet is to buy a new headlight. hit me up if you want more info.
I know they cant be used in the 03+ Sunfires. I just searched and found projectors on ebay. It says they are for scions, so im guessing those would work. Look at it and let me know. Probably suck on the quality but who knows.

I got one apart... there was some major breakage but i think i will be able to get the lense on it and then plastic weld it tight.
The projector looks HUGE in the housing... is this normal? lol

Hurry along Im waiting here
JGM T-SHIRTS!!!!

Alexis: Dustin, you're ghey, lol. I am better. I have tits, and tits rule all.
WELL i smoothed the inside of the headlight assembly where the projector will sit. The wire i have on my projectors is too big for me to just cut out a notch(i tried, failed. You can't see it when the projector sits in it) so i had to cut a wide hole instead(it is wide to give the clips the clearance to get in).
Here is a pic of the hole i cut for my wire:
And here are pics of my cat attacking my headlight assembly. She didnt like the sound of the dremel tool.
:
Ok... so how do i know if the cut off line will be straight across? And how am i going to be able to align these?

Ok... got the one projector in and secure. it is getting to be a pita to take pics.... put memory card in the laptop.... take it out... take more pics.... put memory card BACK into the laptop and repeat soooo i am going to go on and continue to work on them and then just post a good bit more later....
ANYWAYS... i still need to know how i will be aligning these and need to know how i will get the cut off to go straight across. Thanks
I hook up the hids when tightening them to make sure the cutoff is level. I have some extra pigtails that you can hook to a battery that connect to the ballast if you need to borrow one.
you are going to have a hard time sealing up that hole you made for the wiring.
As far as the projector positioning, yes they will stick out like that on the sunfires. I can get them to sit back a little further, send me a pm if you are interested.
I also have a few other tricks I use on the Sunfire lights, I could help you out with. As far as fixing the damage, you want to do REAL plastic weld...not JB weld, and you should have the lens off when you do that, as the high heat needed to repair the plastic found in the base would easily distort the acrylic lens.
And CorKey, these kits are suprisingly nice, and do not suck on quality. I was actually very suprised on output quality, and overall performance. There are a couple issues I have with them, but are easily dealth with. And yes, they should work in a scion.....i thought you were going for your fire.
No, I was thinking about them for the fire. I just wasnt sure about the quality since i only found very few pairs, and the usual ebay quality of most stuff. Maybe in the next car, but I think i'd have you build me a nice set.

Ah well i got both of the projectors in the housing. I am very hungry so i will be going to Sheetz with my woman and getting something to eat. (if you live in PA, you know what the amazing phenomenon of Sheetz is)
When i get back i will start to seal on the lenses.... YAY. (everyone cross your fingers)
John, how long will i have to hold the two pieces together till i can leave them go? (or if it is easier, how long till they dry?)
On with the pics-
First pain in the ass:
And both together:
WELLL the second stock lense to get off proved to be a lot harder to get off, but i broke less of the housing. They are looking sexy if i do say so myself...
That looks sweet. Now get the lenses on and back in the car for night pics. j/k Take some time and make them look good. I dn if you noticed the cracking paint on my headlight before, but i repainted it tonight. You gave me the inspiration to try and make my headlights not look like crap beside yours.
03 Sunfire - Sold.
Haha well glad i could do that.
We will see if mine dont look like crap when i get these lenses back on. Hey i found out a few other people on here live in PA. We gotta see how close they are.
ANYWAYS.... just got back from eating a Buffalo Chicken Hoagie from Best Way Pizza..... amazing...
I am going to put these lenses on while my woman and I watch mall cop.
Ill post pics in a lil...
MMMMM, sounds good. I have yet to get anything from Best Way. But I did see mall cop last week, pretty funny. I'm going to the GF's house know to watch The Hangover. Cant wait to see the finished pics.
