I have a 98 sunfire coupe, and i want to swap the back to the 03+ style. I know what i need, but i cant find the parts anywhere! Ebay, i can find the taillights only, and they are not the stock lights (what i want) I have looked other places, but still nothing! Any help?
Thanks for the replies. Was it really an easy bolt-on job? And does the lock/key mechanism fit? The latch on the inside of my car for the trunk was broke when i bought the car, i think its just a cable, havent had a chance to see. I would like to have access to my trunk...
The guy who is selling the trunk filler will not ship to canada... So the hunt continues.
i have a filler panel 03+ ill sell it to ya for 45 shipped
My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again

i wasnt aware you could just swap over the newer style rear end parts, i thought you needed new 1/4 panels lol
cool!

cool!
direct bolt on swap. trunk panel, tail lights and bumper.
as for getting stock parts for dirt cheap, go to
http://www.car-parts.com and search junkyards. i got 2 trunk panels for $45 each.
here's a pic of my car with the '03 rear swap:
did you sell him the trunk filler? I want it!
I am in canada, if that makes a difference. I figure there should be 100's of people here willing to sell the stock bumper, and tail lights because the have aftermarket parts. If so, email me!
wow-thats just awesome. gotta love gm for being cheap and making things interchangable
i turned down buying 2 older fires due to the fact i hate that rear end THAT MUCH.
All i want to do with my car, is the rear end swap, evil eyes on the hood, and get a nice paint job. then i want to put in a decent stero system, the give it some more power, just enough to keep the ricers behind me. lol
Here's what I did 2 years ago on a 97
RK Sport kit, wing, 03 + update front and back
That is truley amazing... Still nothing i need being shipped to canada... There is a place i can go to buy the parts, not far from my house, but the bumper alone is over 300 dollars. I guess I have to wait.
i told you already... www.car-parts.com here's the best prices i can find.
rear bumper: Alberta Auto Wreckers Can-AB(Redcliff) E-mail 1-800-465-7692 1-403-548-3149 $88.5 --Can-- $100.00
filler panel: your best bet would be to search for one in the US, have someone you trust pick it up and ship it to you, cause all the ones listed in Canada are too expensive
tail lights: Caughill Auto Wreckers Can-ON(Niagara-on-the-Lake) E-mail 1-800-667-7479 $44.25 --Can-- $50.00 (that's just the price for one, but they probably have both, just call and find out).
if that doesn't help, nothing will.
is it possible to swap only a certain number of parts? eg. only filler and tails, and keep the existing bumper?
btw both swaps done in this thread are sweet
Yeah it is, but it would require a lot of chopping and filling from what i understand.
so probably just stick to either full conversion or none at all...sounds good thanks
Theres an 03 sunfire in the junkyard down by my house.... full rearend intact as far as I know. But never dealt with shippin to canada so that would sure be interesting...

How are the reverse lights run? Having an '02, they are currently in my bumper. Man, wish I had done this with my '96, would have been much easier.
I guess it runs down the side of the trunk somewhere, insted of on the lid... You can see where they filled the holes on the new panels though...
