need pics and ideas of new ways to open trunk (eg. flip)

thats what i had in mind but doesnt it hit the side at the bottom under the taillights when it opens? if not how did u do it (just a single hinge), what about a latch? detailed pic would be greatly appreciated.

it still uses the stock lock and key. I used the stock hinges just had to mod them a little and move them to that side . i welded two 1/4 x 2 x 8 in flat bar to the underside for the for the hinge to mount to .. painted inside and out also a clearcoat in & out .. done

ok so i was thinknin bout changin my trunk also, and sorry to threadjack but since we're on the topic
what i had in mind was to cut the trunk so that the tails (inner and outer) stay put and then just the "middle" of the trunk opens
i really have no clu where to start, but i think it'd look badass

im no expert, but here's what i can think of off the top of my head as to what you would need to do..
--cut the inners away from the lid and then weld them to the rear of the car. then you'd have to roll the edges of the new "trunk lid" and seal it so that it doesnt leak??

anywho, you'd loose some loading room, but if thats not important to you..

if done right i do think it could look pretty sweet!!!
i'll see if i can find pics to do some choppin.

Im currently looking into Tailgating my trunk.

What i mean by that, Is on my sunfire, you know that black piece in the center, I want to cut just above it, making my trunk lid in 2 parts.

The bottom part will be hinged and removeable, Kinda like the tailgate of a truck. White the top will he hinged upward with gas struts, kinda.

Thats my plan, i hope i works.

what i'm talkin about is that the inner tails stay where they are and then the trunk opens "normally", like it still opens as it does stock but the inner tails stay where they are

if you can find me a pic from a car or better yet, if you can take two real fast of yours... one with the truck open and one with it closed AT THE SAME ANGLE, it shouldnt be hard to do....
