I have a 96 sunfire GT that I have only had a year and am just now beginning customizing it. It is all black with grey flames on the side and I think it would add a really sleek look to it to take off the exterior handles and instead put in door poppers ( probably not what they are really called) they have the solenoids that electronically pops them by remote. has anyone done this if so do you have any pics or advice.
Thanks guys
Yes I have this done and pictures. They are called poppers, you will need a kit, most will reccommend a Spal kit which I have and go with 50 pounds atleast and 2 poppers. The install is not overly difficult but a friend or 2 is nice to have, some good drill bits for the rivets and some elbow grease. You can check out my registry and go to my cardomain site to see pictures of install, before and after.
Spal 40lb kits - A lot of people like them... They are cheaper in price.
Autoloc 50lb kits - Some people like, and some don't... They are a little more expensive than Spal.
If you need either kit with or without poppers, let me know (email me).

my advice to you would be experience in welding, or you can panel bond a piece of sheet metal in yes panle bond, the 3m panel bond is a great product and it`s corrosion protective
if you choose to weld in metal lik ei just said experience is needed sheet metal will wrap if ya don`t know what your doin, advice from a pro....make a template from the door handle, make it slightly bigger so you can grind down the metal to fit the opening
when weldin only give a tack on each corner, then go back and fill in the rest moving around the metal so it won`t warp
i use spal kit`s easy ti install and never failed on me yet
i say 40 lb kit is enough

How would the door poppers hold up in the winter? Anyone ever have a problem those of you who have a winter season with like 0 degree temps. I live in Pa and my sunfire is an all season car.
I live in PA also and I have had no problems, I have heard of a few people who say they will be troublesome to get open, but myself personally have not.
nope no problems here and i drove my car all winter long
