Well, I managed to build a set for the '03 sunfire. Not sure if I'm done yet or not. I might try to add a few more diodes here and there.
Right now I'm running 32 10mm 18,000 MCD diodes in each light. If I didn't have tinted lenses they would be bright as *@
I think they may be a little dim during the day but I have had the police behind me without any trouble so far.
Here are some crappy pics.......
those are pretty cool, the only thing i can say is it would look really awsome if the pattern was alittle bit tighter, but they are freakin sweet none the less.
J~
I'm working on another set but they won't be ready for quite some time. I hope to fill the lens with smaller leds - around 250 per light. Those will be t*ts
those look great. how about some day pics

This is the best thread on this board in months.
Good job man, you should post it on hidplanet.com/forums

Show us some progress pics. I'm seriously even thinking about getting mine done in leds soon. I just learned more about wirings. I guess I can do this!

Thanks all.
As far as daytime pics go, I need to wash the car, then I'll get some. It's been raining here every other day so I haven't bothered yet.
The wiring is pretty easy. The LEDs that I used were white and could handle about 3.5 volts max. A car usually puts out about 13.2 to 13.9 when running. What I did was wire the LEDs in parallel, in groups of 4, which gives them about 3.4 volts each. Then I connected the parallel groups in series to get the whole array.
To get them to blink at the right speed you have to either buy a digital flasher or wire up a 25w - 8 to 10 ohm resistor to trick the stock flasher into thinking there is a blub there. The downside is that these things get very hot.
I'll work on a how to for LEDs that will include some pics of my projects. As far as the currect 250+led array - I'm still working on how to drill the pattern evenly....
sweet ass man. looks really good
i need an edit button!!
The leds are wired in series - then parallel. Sorry for the confusion.
I remember reading on here about using a bigger resistor to take the heat away. they look good man want to do it to my 04 cav. where did u get everything?

That is right - but this is the proper resister to get the lights to blink right. It is quite large and encased in a flame proof shell - about 1/2 tall by 3 inches long. A person could add some heatsyncs to keep it cool - I just mounted mine under the car by the spare tire.
As far as the stuff, I just bought it at a local electronics shop. You could get the leds on EBAY for sure.
So if I got all of it at radio shack they would have everything i need? also can you give me the ratings on the led's and resistors. so i get the right ones. Thanks.

Nice job are you going to put any in the centre high mount brake light in your rear spoiler?
Thats Him Officer The WICKED One.

You have to get the LEDs first - then figure out which resistors you need. I didn't use any on the leds - just one for each light to make the while thing blink right.
I doubt that Radio Shack has good prices on LEDs - if they even carry them. If you don't have a good shop where you are, try ledpro on ebay.
chris orr wrote:Nice job are you going to put any in the centre high mount brake light in your rear spoiler?
I'm actually going to remove the spoiler and put a LED bar at the top of the rear windshield inside the car.

I might get a chance to get some good pics this weekend. It's still been raining everyday here...
