I have a 97' Sunfire GT,
I went and "read entire" my VCM with HP tuners. After that finished I saved the file , then opened it up. I started looking around at the tabels and I noticed all the VE tabels were MAP vs. RPM. I assumed that pre-2000 vcm's were alpha-n, with VE based off TPS vs. RPM. I downloaded some pre 2000 files off of the HPT site and verified that their VE tabels were TPS vs. RPM. whats the deal.... I wanted to get some info before I Licensed my car.
any guess's......or is this sunfire "special"
Click on , Engine , Fuel Control , General... It'll say , IPW Multiplier VS. Vac. ... The '00-'02 with S/C reflash will say , IPW Multiplier VS. Map

if thats the case that'd be pretty sweet
for boost...
MAP vs RPM > TPS vs RPM
can you email me this HPT file?
Very strange indeed... I have a stock '98 and a stock '99 file. They show Throttle Position% VS. RPM.
Can you e-mail that file?

i just emailed the file to both of you.
I dont know if you'll be able to open it tho. I dont know how to send the updated 2.1.19.00 beta VCM editor they emailed me its like 18 MB
Thanks... I'll have to get the new beta version so I can open it.

i'm pretty sure i have that version of HPT already I just updated last week
I won't be able to check the file until I get home tho (anxious)
Anybody get a chance to look at this file yet? If so what'd you find out...is it really speed density?
One of the moderators on HPT said that its entirely possible because "As sometimes GM does change things up a bit." most of the verification of VCM's have been with Chevy Caviliers....not Pontiac Sunfires. same platform, same engines, ................what about the tuning....
I think it's a f*ck up with HPT, I have an 01, and my graphs show the same. Perhaps its with the newest version of HPT we all just downloaded...
its 100% official... straight from chris @ HPT.
I emailed them strait up telling them my situation and asked him to double check everythingand he said it.
My 97' Sunfires VCM is tuned in Speed density. He said a few 97's he's saw have been in speed density instead of alpha-n.
now on to the next step...learning to tune this odd ball VCM....
you could share your VIN number with others, so that they could also use the Map vs RPM maps (for 97-99 2.4's)

Oh, and in case anybody completely missed the importance of this find...
This is the single most important thing to pre2k LD9's with boost since HPTUNERS itself was created and released. With this we have the ability to fake a 2 or 3 bar and add fuel with boost. It is... to say the least... a unicorn. The unthinkable. And it's real.
