Well it finally crapped out on me, im not sure on the details yet but my dad relayed the estimate to me, $1100 So im going to jsut bring it to running condition and then sell it. It was a good run lol Now i need some ideas for a good replacement. Im looking for something good on gas but also has a little pep. Im thinking about possibly a 00' civic SI, and possibly charging it down the road. My budget is most likely going to be around the $8-10k cad, thoughts on some other options for cars? And no i dont want another J right now lol
Bump your budget to 13-15K CND and buy an LS1.
Boo Ya.

lol that WAS my first option, but i quite frankly cant justify spending that much on gas. This is my DD after all, and the gas prices dont show any sign of dropping.
Read the LS1 Threads, go to LS1Tech ... LS1s are not gas hogs.
If you can not afford a performance vehicle, hard times.
Buy a civic. I would.

The thing is they may be goodish on gas, but then whats the point lol, if you got a fast car but drive it slow to save gas its a waste of a nice car. Id rather just get a car thats good on gas to begin with
Doesn't matter what you drive, it won't be good on gas if you drive it with the pedal to the floor. If you want to go fast, you're going to have to make a sacrifice.
I have my 83 Z28 for playing, and my 90 Isuzu for gas mileage and DD purposes.
LS1 with an M6 would be the best for going fast, and getting good gas mileage
when not going fast. There is a guy on here (Mr. Luos) has over 500hp in a 99 Trans AM WS6 and can still pull I think close to 20mpg cruising. That's also with a 402 stroker, not the 5.7 LS1.

Ya but what im saying is for the time being i DONT want a fast car, im looking for something that gets good gas milage, cuz im kinda broke lol
That's the thing, an F-body with an LS1 and a 6 speed will get good gas mileage, and still be able to go fast
when you want to.
If you're getting a new car, and you know you will want something fast later, just get it now.. makes much more sense.
1983 Camaro Z28
ya but im saying theres a big difference between getting 19mpg and 31mpg. The thing thats holding me back is the gas prices dont shot much sign of stopping. Jinxed, how much do you spend a week on gas? I need a car with good city mpg as thats what a fair ammount of my driving is gunna be.
Lets get something clear.
Im not easy on the peddle.
I dont beat the crap out of my car, but I sure as hell put it to good use ... and that use is hard acceleration.
As for gas, she gets 400km / 50L ... or 250mi / 50L ... with my driving habits. I keep gas receipts and keep track of my tripometer. This isn't 'I think I get this gas milage' or 'one time on a long road trip I got this gas milage' ... this is 'I get this gas milage because I have kept two years of gas receipts and tripometer data in an excel spreadsheet and calculate it on a regular basis to assess differences in my driving habits'.
And that is modified, untuned, running rich, heavy on the peddle.
Is a 6spd LS1 for you? Thats your call ... if youre entering penny pinching times ahead, do not bother. Buy a 93 civic hatch like I said before and beat the piss out of it for a few years until you can afford something nice and fast.

Ya your probably right, im hopeing to have a $30/hour job in 2 years should my training go as planned, perhaps then i can afford one lol
you could pick up a used monte carlo ss for around that price, would be decent gas millage and have a little go to it.
