At 167 inches long the C30 will be Volvo’s smallest car, 8.5-inches shorter than the Volvo S40 sedan. The four-seater features folding rear bucket seats positioned slightly inboard to give a feeling of spaciousness and better visibility through the windshield. The car uses the platform of the S40, V50 and C70, it takes the interior design from those cars.
All-wheel drive isn't on the spec sheet yet, though the platform (shared not just with those other Volvos but also the Mazda 3 & Europe's Focus) doesn't preclude it. The front-wheel-drive car is powered by the same 2.5-liter, turbocharged five-cylinder engine Volvo uses in the S40/V50 and C70, developing 218 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. Curb weight is expected to be around 2850-2900lbs.
Safety equipment includes the "Blind Spot Information System," which helps the driver identify another vehicle in the blind spots, safety belt pretensioners, whiplash protection system, and side airbags. Price should start at $23K when it goes on sale in July.

i work for volvo...im looking forward to it personally. but whatever you people do, DO NOT BUY ONE!! LEASE IT!!! volvos are WAY too expensive to maintain once the warranty is up...and the s40 platform has problems. not as many as the xc90's do.. (Dear god dont ask...) but they do. im thinking about leasing one for myself since i work for a dealer and can get a discount...plus my 02 cav wil be paid off right around that time.
218 hp 5 cyl turbo...and you can change the turbo to one from a T5R...it bolts right up for another 20 or 30 horses. yeeeehawwww.

Is it available in manual? If so I'd rock one, not a bad looking car. ALthough I'd rather have the S40.

I'm right there with you. There is something about it that's not making me like it as much.
Have a good one,
Justin
I would rock that in a heartbeat.
MIAMI HEAT
NBA CHAMPS!!!
you can swap turbos back pretty easy...no way to tell the difference, its not like computers log these things. especially if you work for a dealer like me...

According to Motor Trend (Nov 2006), rumors of a 256 HP version of the 2.5 liter turbo five used in the Focus ST, could be dropped in it.
I love it except for the rear. Volvo has recently struck a chord with me on their latest designs. The S60 R is bad @$$ looking as well
s60R is fast as all hell...i love driving that thing. the stock tires on that thing suck ass too...so we smoke the crap out of em when they are in the shop!
the all-new s80 comes with this new optional what they call FOUR-C electronic adjustable suspension...im wondering the specs about that, and its aftermarket applications myslef...anyone know about that?

*Note to self* - Never take my Volvo to your shop.
You're an idiot
there is not a single thign i dont like about.
i saw concept shots fo this long ago and thought it was awesome then, but assumed it would never make it.
if volvos werent so expensive id definitely want one.

^For $23K it is not that bad. This is a better put-together car then a the hopped up econoboxes in the same price range.
&
Definitely expect a "R" engine in this vehicle too.

23k i thought i remember somethign more around 25k
should have looked into it before i said that
but still i would prefer not to pay over22-23k for a car of that size. space = $ to me and when there isnt much space then to me $ should be lower. but those are MY priorities.

well worth a grand more then our beloved cobalt SS...I'd rock one...till that guy said volvos aren't reliable haha
