HIDs in the droptop
Wednesday, June 09, 2010 2:47 PM
Well I finally decided to HIDs in the vert. I've got the 6000K 35W DDM Tuning kit in the headlights, and ebay 3000K fogs. The only problem is one the DDM ballasts blew 5 min after these shots were taken, so the ballast is being sent to them for testing, and I should get my new one in about a week :/ Kinda pissed about the delay, but whatever. Lifetime Warranty FTW. Keep in mind these are quick shots and the car is filthy and bug covered, will do a better shoot once I get the new ballast and she gets a bath! C & C welcome!

proof that she is driven! (I know Brad "Z yaaaa" doesn't think it is )

Shoulda went 55watt for the headlights, otherwise not too shabby my friend.

I think bigfoot is blurry,
that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra
scary to me. There's a large, out-of-focus monster, roaming the countryside.

I debated the 55W, but I figured in the stock headlights w/o projectors, they're gonna be bright as is, so I went with 35Ws. I don't want to blind people! And thanks!

thank you sir. You get those wheels you posted in the image manipulation forum? They looked sick!

looks great! i went with the 55watt 8000k from DDM tuning. i drove with mine for 4 months and just the other night my passenger ballast went out. mine is being tested and replaced as we speak. so for now im running my 35watt ballast in driver and 55watt in passenger. you can actually tell alot of difference in the light output. looks great though!

Really? I wasn't sure just because I don't have perfectly clear headlights like the 00+, so I didn't want too much light scattering and whatnot... oh well. Next car I'll do 55s

Love it man. Always one of my favorite verts.

I can't believe the DDM ballasts blew that fast. I have them in both my cars and no issues at all! Hope they send ya some replacements in a timely manner!

That and the fact that our reflectors just kind of direct the light willy-nilly and kill the output.

Thanks a lot bro, I've always been a huge fan of your J's, so I really appreciate it! And yeah, I hope they send me a new ballast quickly. My car looks ghetto with 3 HIDs and an old yellowed out halogen bulb.

They work pretty darn well for me... better then halogens...
the Jew wrote:ehhhh not my thing i would rather seem some projector HID setup instead

Eh, custom projectors are too damn expensive and the ebay once piece Halos and other aftermarket projectors look like ass in my opinion... HIDs + factory housing gives me the nice sleek look I want. I don't want the car to look aftermarket...

Looks good man, I was never a fan of 6000k headlight with 3000k fogs, but its really starting to grow on me

Are the fogs an ebay HID kit or did you actually find an incandescent that is that yellow?

That looks hot though

Paying someone to install parts and bragging about it being fast, is like watching someone bang your wife and being proud to raise their kids.

Fog's really look like HID's IMO. I used to have Yellow incandescent bulbs in my stock fogs. So there out there

haha, I debated on going with 8k headlights and matching fogs, but Charlie (CLC) convinced me
to go with the 6k, and i love them. More of a factory look and a brighter light.

they're HIDs bro! I've tried halogen fogs and they suck. I had yellow and purple bulbs, both were awful. The HIDs are legit though, I love them. So bright and oh so JDM!

Smoosh wrote:looks good man! glad you were able to get them all figured out!

haha, me too. Too bad I'm paying for my mistake. The ballast did
blow... :/ oops...

haha, the yellow halogen ones I tried sucked, they looked like factory pale white. But as mentioned they're HIDs as well.

Looks sweet, yes Projector-LESS looks good. If their aimed downwards correctly there is no glare to oncoming drivers.

Looks great That's too bad that the ballast blew so quickly, my DDM kit rocked, too bad its just sitting in the garage now cause the new SAAB has them stock and self leveling and cornering

I do love the 6000k headlight and 3000k foglight combo though... I'm very tempted to drop a 3000k kit into my projector fogs...
