"Official" Mecksters CavFire build post
Thursday, September 27, 2007 4:00 PM
I was going to do this last weekend..... but that never happened.... so here it is.

Instead of doing a bunch of different posts over the course of winter, I figured it would just be easier to compile all the pictures and information into one post. That way, me, or anyone else doesn't have to search for specific posts or anything.

This post will include....

- 3400 engine swap
- N/W/F front brake swap
- IRS Swap
- Cavalier to Sunfire interior swap
- Exterior progress
- and lots more

To get things rolling........ I'll start out with the day I got the car..... up until now, and so forth...... For those of you that remember.... my last car was an orange widebody cavalier... that was sort of a successful failure. I'm no longer into the show scene anymore, and the purpose of this new car is to build a nice looking, good performing daily driver/weekend racer.

The day I got her.......

Yeah, i know.... crap eh?

At this time I still had the orange car... and this was to be my beater... but even then it evolved a little bit because i cant stand leaving anything stock....

so I added the stock 00' Z24 kit, spoiler, tails, and headlights

After a while, I sold the orange cav.... and this one became my daily driver..... right then and there I knew I couldn't leave it looking stock... and I had to do something cool with it.

Thats how she sat for a little while.... simply because I wasnt really happy with where it was going. Things changed when I was able to get ahold of the RKSport fiberglass sunfire bumper from QBE.

I decided to do a full CavFire conversion..... and use mostly stock parts to finish off the rest of the car (mostly )

Thats pretty much how she sat as of recently........

I got a set of Sunfire GT sideskirts, a Wings West W-Type rear lip.... and started on the Sunfire interior swap.......

Thats pretty much it for the moment.... i still need a good set of door panels for the interior

and this weekend the entire car is going into primer

All new pictures and progress info will be posted in this thread from now on.....

...

Very nice... I guess you just prefer the sunfire interior over the cavalier interior? Otherwise... looks great!

Well it was either that or the 2000+ interior swap... simply because 95-99 cavalier interiors were poorly designed with putting the damn radio down by the cupholder. That was my biggest reason for doing it... plus the sunfire interior is a little sportier in my opinion

I have to say, the back end looks a lot better with the rear lip and those sides. but I've always felt you needed different wheels, never really liked them on the orange one either.. eh..
