Gratuitous Yonaka Samurai Seat Pictures - 56K warning

I'm usually not one for posting big piles of pictures for no good reason, but... I can't think of a way to finish this sentence. These are Yonaka Samurai genuine leather seats, with red stitching. They came courtesy of Jason at A+, by way of the latest group purchase deal.

Delivery by some Ontario/Quebec trucking company I'd never heard of.

Big-ass box that has seen better days. Looks like its been re-sealed.

Yep, they're in there.

They seem to have a bit of "character" already. Which is to say, It wouldn't surprise me if I'm not the first one to give these a look over, which would explain the condition of the box. I could probably give them a wipe down with a cleaner/conditioner. They seem ok overall. The stitching looks good.

They'll make decent extra chairs in my basement until I get around the doing the install. I've already concluded they're comfortable, and fine for my 240lb 6'2" frame.

I've seen the tutorial for making up some seat brackets, and I intend to weld up something a bit less flimsy-looking. Keeping the seat down low is also a goal of mine. Just as a reminder, these seats will be going into this car:

I'm planning a few other upgrades as well. I'm planning to tint the windows (again, following this attempt.) And before anyone points it out again, that wheelgap will be dealt with. As well as the left-front tire that looks flat, and was, because of a nail puncture.

I've got Sportlines waiting for installation -- and when my tax refund come through I plan to get some D-Specs to put them on.

Also, my brakes are shot, so I'm putting on these drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic pads from CQuence Motorsports.

More pictures to come. I've been soaking my salt-corroded seat studs with Liquid Wrench the past few days, so hopefully that part will work out at least.

Nice upgrade, I have the same seats but in blue cloth, I love em Not commenting on the wheel gap, but does the photo make it look like you have extremely thin tires or ? (front and back, not just front because of the puncture).

You're not just seeing things -- those tires are only 30-series. I got the wheels second-hand from a guy who had them on a little Volkswagen, and the tires came with them. I haven't bothered to change them since they had some good tread left. This means I get to deal with about 5% overspeed on my guages, and an even MORE obvious wheelgap than usual. I'm hoping the Sportlines will clean things up a bit.

I've tried a good universal remote, but they're just useless with my setup. I have some oddball stuff that doesn't play nice with a universal (like a Pioneer 7-DVD changer that requires a two button sequence to change discs, or my Korean-made MediaGate MG-35). So it happens that there are no fewer than eight remotes within reach at any given moment.

I had the same seats black on black. they're really nice. comphy too.

I think they are going to look way out of place in your car though... you should consider some exterior mods first.

geeky... the JBO link god. hahaha

nice setup man, really love the seats, wish u had a z24-they would go into the interior flawless then (cuz of the red stitching on the various pieces) but they will look awesome all the same.

if you dont mind me asking... how much did they set u back?

I reserve the right to change my mind at any time, but my philosophy to modding has been to do clean-looking and simple mods that don't scream "look at me", but rather "this car looks nicer than an average Cavalier, but you might not be able to immediately tell why".

Plus, a seat makes the car nicer for ME. Fancy body kits make the car nicer for... the local body shop, and a few onlookers who might appreciate it. I've been looking at a set of conservative RkSport lips, but the seats ended up coming first. I've also been trying to stay with mods that are easily removed and sold or transferred if I get a different car.

I like to add supporting links where possible. So shoot me.

This is true, and I've considered working red into the interior elsewhere, but have yet to find a way that doesn't strike me as tacky. I even had an opportunity with the Wheel Skin leather steering wheel cover I just ordered, but I chose to get it in gray sides, black top and bottom. I probaby should have gotten black stitching, but it just seemed too perfect to have red stitching with the car's paint color. At least they pretty much have to be an improvement on the seat covers I'm using at the moment. My current dull interior:

$510USD + $80 shipping. By the time I dealt with currency conversion, I was in for about $700 CDN.

That same company vends even cheaper on eBay. That's where I actually bought them. I'll be sure to let everyone know whether they suck or not.

Glad you approve, Jason. I went over them with Maguire's Leather cleaner and conditioner last night. It really brought out the natural look of the leather. I might snap another shot to see if that shows up. My nephew loves playing on them -- they're the new super-slides / imaginary racecar simulators in the basement. I won't even get started installing these until the weekend at the earliest.

Small update:

- D-Specs on on order
- I'm sitting on a new window tinting kit, waiting for a good time to try and intall it.
- $200 shop bill last week to get my headlights working again, seems my wiring is rotting. Stupid Canadian winters.
- Don't know if I'll get the seats installed this weeked, but take a look at this:

Difference after using Maquiar's Rich Leather Wipes and leaving overnight (guess which one is untreated....)

That is all.

I should add, now that a bit more time has passed, they've lost a lot of the "wet" look and now simply look blacker and cleaner. To be honest, it had almost gone too glossy and begun to look fake. I'm glad it evened out.

Update: I've picked up a chunk of 1/4" aluminum plate that I plan to cut adapter plates from. Set me back another $82.00, but at least it will look like something substantial. Hope to see more progress in the next couple of days.

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again

Now that you mention it... well that wasn't exactly the effect I was going for.

It probably wasn't a good thing that I had them stacked in my back seat when I took them home. I can only imagine what went through the minds of the people I passed.
