My new cavalier project FINALLY...pics inside

so..long story short, I bought this car for 1000 bucks cuz it used to belong to clay. (now owns a 350z here on the boards, some of ya know him)

This car placed 6th in the quick 8 at the 03 bash, and blew a diff on the way home....(2 miles from his house, how lucky is that considering 8 hour trip)

I bought it running fine, timing jumped or slipped or something, and I had to pull the head for a rebuild. In the meantime of that, either I didn't get the timing housing tight, or the crank seal was bad...either way, I had a small leak, and chose to just keep oil in it rather then fix the problem. Got low on oil, I knew it was low, opted not to drive it till I could put oil in it. Ex gf took the keys that I left there (so she could move it if need be) and she took my words as hey take it out and drive it if ya want (i used to let her drive it all the time, she's good driving stick) and she beat the @!#$ out of it, and spun a bearing....in the meantime, 3rd gear synchro was SHOT.

Soooo time for rebuild.

And to cure my 3rd gear synchro woes....got a steal on ebay. Advertised as a getrag muncie NVG-T550, twas actually an isuzu from 92-94...which was still an external slave. Most importantly...it was BRAND NEW...still in the ISUZU box. Soooo I converted the car to external slave, and used this tranny I picked up for $200US shipped to my door. I also opted to put in an HO flywheel/clutch. HO flywheel doesn't have counterweights, is slightly lighter by design, and the clutch disc is a 4 spring, compared to a 6 spring and is also about 1/2" larger in diameter. Also used TTR Manual Tranny mounts...A++++ REVIEW BTW!!! My motor doesn't move an inch, and I have rk lower mount, upper insert and then the TTR bushings.

Funny how small manual trannys are. Was working on my new 4T65E adding some HD parts the other day. That thing weights 210 pounds dry, and mine still has quite a bit of fluid in it. That was an awesome deal on that, looks awesome. Glad to see the good work DTP.

oh wow...I forgot about that haha.

Thanks guys, feels good to have her runnin again. Pulls quite nicely from what I can tell from baby driving it...still a long ways from being broken in, I got about 60 miles on her right now, nothin highway yet. This pretty well completes most of my under hood stuff, I might sneak some secret cams in if I come across some for the right price, but for now I am not going to mess with it.

I am looking into a big mouth front bumper for it, so this silver bumper will likely be taken right back off, its really just on there just to have a front bumper. Quarter should be fixed in the spring, so then it'll even be a nice looking car.

all in all....motor build, new trans/clutch/flywheel...i'm sittin around 1300 bucks, which considering the amount of new stuff under the hood, I thought I did well.

I saw that, but I'm gonna wait awhile, the yards have been rich in 95 quads lately so i might be able to beat that yet.

Geeds:probably awhile, no need to come down really unless you guys have a get together or somethin.

Jesse...noooo thats white lebron...we go way back!
