Ran On the Dyno Today
Friday, October 07, 2005 5:06 PM
Well,

I ran on the dyno today. Was trying to get some base numbers before I do any modifications. I have a 2005 Cavalier and the dyno was performed at Cars-N-Effects.

Here is the dyno image:

And here is the video: Base Dyno

Numbers where:
Max Power = 127.91
Max Torque = 135.22

Hope you enjoy.

Thanks guys,

QBE my plans for my first modification to the engine is boost. I am planning on doing the GM charger if it comes out before the end of 2005. Otherwise I might have to break down and go turbo like yourself. Other than boost though I do not intend on any other engine modifications to be performed until the end of 2006, I plan to work on exterior only.

that's the strangest dyno graph i've ever seen. looks more like a wave graph than a dyno graph.

care to explain more? is this something that just happened to be on with every other dyno graph i've ever seen or what?

it's some nice numbers, but the graph is just... strange.

Hello DvBoard,
Yes usually smoothing is on by default, there are different levels of smoothing which make it the way you see in most dyno graphs. I asked for it with out any smoothing. I would rather see the raw data, but that is just me. Also when you enable smoothing it actually lowers the numbers because it averages out between spikes and finds the most common values, therefore giving you a more naturally accepted image yet less accurate in my mind. Granted the numbers only changed a couple HP you are talking probably about maybe +/- 5 hp with smoothing. Either way my stock expectation was to see between 120-130 hp based on 1/4 times and vehicle weight so this is just about right.

ok i was just wondering. just seems strange to see so many spikes. i've never hada car worth putting on a dyno though i i don't know all those options
