Guys,
I have found a new way to paint the top vinyl dash without having to fiber glass the whole thing...
STEPS IN ORDER:
1. wash dash with soap and water
2. wipe down with rubbing alcohol " Like in the whole to paint your dash thing"
3. spray dupli-color vinyl and fabric paint on it " 2 coats"
4. repeat steps 2 and 3
5. spray 2 cans of dupli-color filler primer
6. sand down with about 320 grit, but do not get out all of the patterns
7. repeat step 2 and 3
8. repeat step 5
9. sand all of the patterns out " or as smooth as you want it"
10. spray dupli-color suv, truck, and car, paint on it " 2 coats"
11. let dry....repeat steps 2 and 3
12. spray 2 cans of clear coat on it
13...............YOUR DONE
I have done mine and it has lasted a very long time with nothing happening to it
I am VERY pleased
I'm sure your not the first to do this
Done this 4 years ago on mine. Still looks great to this day.

yeah I was not to sure on how it would look at first ... and if it would even work... but i finally did it and it came out PERFECT!
I think the key part is the clear coat my self
they are all some variation of building up layers but in all honesty, poke your dash in a week when its 100% cured and it will crack. its jsut something thats very hard to do with out glassing it. im glad it looks good though
My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again

ok well I know that they are not good.... but here they are... I have actually had this done for about 3 months and i poke and hit it all the time and nothing happens to it, but the reason it is out of my car is because my car is in the shop being painted

Not the first to make a post about this either. There have been many ppl here that have done it.
ya this has been done over and over before
I think this was 2004 from my car? or 2003 i cant remember
yea you can paint it without glassing it but you dont get the smooth glass look that many people want

This is completly irrelevant to the topic, but I was just curious about the speaker near the window handle. I was thinking about doing the samething. Does anyone know how well it clears, or if its a hindrance?
its kinda pointless i used them at shows mainly just with the doors open, as for clearence mine worked fine a lil bit of cutting but it was easy
Pointless? Hardly, I don't have a spot to actually place my speakers. I have a component set for a front stage. 2 4" speakers 2 6.5" speakers and 2 tweeters. I was figuring tweeters in A-pillar, and maybe a custom kick panel for one pair of speakers, but I couldn't figure out a spot for the last ones. Are both the speakers I can see 4" ones, and is the door panel custom made? I honestly didnt think the depth would be deep enough to place a speaker near the arm rest. Thanks for your help
^^^^ what's with the vents? What did you use for that, looks good
i have actually used a color called "LIGHT SLATE"... its from dupli-color truck, suv, paint it was the closest color i could get to the custom silver i have on my car...
I actually miss that interior, debating on going back to something similar if i could find spare parts. Its actually dupont product flat black.

if you have a 3-way set why not just put the 6.5's in the doors, and the 4" and tweets in kickpods. the placement in the doorz like bummrz has is going to be for getting loud, not for accurate sound.

Its difficult to fit the 6.5 in the door with the handle there, I honestly don't know how he doesnt have the handle smacking the speaker. I guess I can put it behind the door panel, but thats not entirely what I wanted to do. Thanks for your input.
