I'm in the process of doing the same thing, only without actually removing the lower dash. I removed the dash pad, cut the vinyl to fit, epoxyed the crack back together, used the dash pad to anchor the vinyl on one side of the bezel, and double-sided duct tape to hold it tight on the windshield side. Then I still need to tuck the excess into the gap between the bezel and the windshield, and get a piece of black weatherstripping to fill the gap. Hopefully it'll look good when I finish the last two steps.

If I still lived in PA thats most likely what I would have done and then went this route if that one cracked too. However, I haven't been able to find any junkyards since I've moved that will let you pull your own parts.
Where in FL are you? I know of a few yards.
John Piparo: I have an erection!! You guys are turning me on!
What have you guys been using to secure the vinyl to the dash bezel? Everything I've tried doesn't want to stick.

heres some pics of my swap
was a good install plus dont think i could have covered that hole with and vinyl plus when i pulled the entire dash out it was broke into two pieces
If you were ever wanting to swap to the charcoal interior that would have been the time. The dash is the hardest part of the swap.

I used spray adhesive on mine and it seems to be sticking well. I sanded and cleaned with alcohol before spraying it on. I sprayed it on both the dash and the vinyl and let it get somewhat tacky before putting it on. Did the dash in thirds just because it gets kind of akward to work with and I didn't want the glue getting too dry before I got it on.
Hey i just fixed mine but it took me two tries because i tried to do it without taking out the dash but the vinyl rolled at the ends were it meet the windshield because i could't get the glue to reach, so then i said screw it and i cut the top piece from the bottom with a grinder and a dremel then to fix the cracks i taped everything together with gorrilla tape and then i used some leftover fiberglass epoxy and mat and glassed the back of it so that i would't crack anymore and the tape held it together while i glassed it up, then re- wraped it and PRESTO!! looks new and you can't tell were i cut it
My vinyl trim is cracked as well. I thought that that strip next to the windshield could come out. It looks like its connected to the lower half of the dash. Big job, but it looks great!
I'm in Florida and my dash lasted almost 4 years new off the showroom before it cracked dead center in front of the defroster vent. The plastic made a clean break in almost a straight line. I have been debating how to repair it w/o spending days removing the dash and removing the broken plastic piece to glue it. Putting a hard plastic cover or carbon fiber cover over it like a dash cap would be ideal, but I still havent seen such an item for sale on the internet or JC Whitney! The Florida sun will bake anything placed there and I keep thinking a charcoal colored vinyl cover will simply start to fade after being in direct sun in a few months. I keep wondering if a Marine grade vinyl might hold up better and not fade? What does GM charge for a replacement piece anyways?? I just cant believe this wasnt a recall item as it seems almost all of the Cavaliers suffer this part breaking after only a few years.

where in florida are you located?
Mine was cracked in the middle and had a lot of missing material for almost a foot and cracked on both ends. When I removed it it pretty much disintegrated....I was forced to replace it with a new one that I got for 20 bucks. I liked the outcome, Like New
