ok ive been trying to get my interior door panels for awhile. i was thinking tonight how do you get that carpeted part out?
im talkin about the part that you rest your arm on on the door. i turned the panel over and theres these huge stupid plastic clips that i cant seem to break off and even when i do break them off... how will i be able to put them back on.?
thanks for all the info guys and gals

Personally, I would maybe heat up the metal a little and use a pair of needle nose pliers to bend it straight, but like you said, you won't be able to get it back on if you break them off. So be extremely careful.
does anyone know cause im lost

Yea i did it... um well u take those lil clips n bend them straight n pull upwards with needle nosed pliers... be careful not to loose um... i lost mine so i hadda use a staple gun to put a couple new ones in...
haha mine broke completely off
I had to use some good ole trusty liquid nails..nothing else would hold it on my 03 cavi

well if your going to glass the door. The first part with the fabric you can rip right out and off..but there is a second layer underneath with a thin rubbery type material that has white mesh that is glued to the panel to hold it on, that part you have to use a dull knife to crape it off.
ok i took my door panel off today and i was looking at it and the little plastic clips have been melted to the plastic. so i ripped the fabric out and it shreded. so now im trying to put the fabric in there. its be coming a pain in the @$$
its all one piece it doesnt come apart
^wrong it does come out just cut the clips and super glue or caulk back in

my door only goes in two pieces, the top and the bottom, i would have to cut it apart.
^im talkin about the fabric in the door not the door itself.

im talking about the armrest
the fabric on the armrest does come out you just have to pop out the tabs or cut them or melt them

how do i get the fabric off where the speaker is on the fire doors??? or will glass stick right to that material???? i would like to know so i can get workin on that part of it!
j-body: that fabric is a Beotch to get off atleast it was on my 97 gt.. and yes/no fiber will stick to it you could i gues resin it up harden slap some fiber on it but your sound will be so distorted. but ened up ripping off the fabic with some grips fabric is pretty much worthless after that, Gm goes happy with that glue.
As for the door parts it is technically 2 parts they are melted together I broke off the "plastic welds" we'll call them and it simply came apart after that minus 2 of the i had to snap.. could possibly melt threw them. as for the fabric part on the upper door part next to the window that in my case was held on by 2 things.. 1. metal clips which you get a needle nose and pry vertical.. 2. it may or not be glued also my buddies gt wasn't glued my gt was but the fabric comes right off it stappled onto that cheap partical crap under it, it has a foam I would recommend taking it off, because chances are some of it will come off with the fabric the easiest way I've found is to take a butter knife and scrape it off, till its down to the partical board stuff. You can find 1/8th-1/4inch foam you can use to put back on if you choose. I didn't I just put leather on it. As a side note if you are redoing the fabic i.e viynal, leather, or diff fabic keep the old fabic is as good of condition as possible as use it to trace onto the next fabic.. Worked for me
also a good "heat resistant" glue compound works great or use upholestry staples i.e. 1/8th of an inch if im not mistaken, anything larger than that will go threw the partical board underneath
hope this helps!

i just tore the hole fabric and board piece out cause it started cracking and i said forget it and ripped it to shreds.
someone just send me their doors primered and fabriced. blue on the armrest and black in the holes at the bottom
if you drill a couple of holes next to the broken plastic clips, you should be able to rivet it together too...........
wait for it... wait for it... NOW GO!! ---> '02 LS Sport <---

i didnt take the clips off cause the armrest part doesnt come apart from the door the only part that does is the fabric thats sitting on the armrest. but i got the bottom pieces off
what i did was broke off the plastic welds done what i needed to do then i used a screw with a washer to reattach all the pieces and doing it this way makes it removeable at a later date if i need to
got a picture of it? cause wouldnt the screws pop through?

i don't have any pics but i can try to get some of it if i can but to answer your question it won't pop through because of the washers
