Well I've already had my seats in for awhile, but I forgot to take off the risers so I decided when I took them off I'd take some pictures. Also I though I'd say how I got the Tom Motorsport Seats on the OEM Brackets. Not to hard to do...just gotta have the time and paticence, which at times I didn't have.
1) Got to Home Depot or Lowe's and buy 3 pieces of sheet metal. I used two 6"x18" 16 Gauge for the Rear and one 1.5"x36" 3/16" Thick for the back...WOULD reccomend using a smaller guage for the front unless you have someway to drill through and cut it. Complete PITA if you have to don't. Also you need 8 Bolts 8 Nuts and 8 Lock Washers. I used 9/16 for mine just to make sure that I wasn't going do snap one off.
2) Take the old seats out. Four 13mm nuts hold them on the floor. Driverside unattach the seatbelt sensor.
3) If you want to sit up really high skip this step, which I did at first and kicked myself for.
Next you'll want to take off the risers off the stock bracket. I just did this to the driver's side because the passanger side had more compicated way that they're risen. The side closest to the passanger side was the easiest just simply unscrew. Other two on the other hand were a task. They are VERY securely attached with 4 spot welds on each. I focused on one spot weld with a cutting wheel then when I could took a chissel and prided it off. TAKE YOUR TIME SO YOU DONT BEND THE BRACKET!
4) After the risers are gone now measure from the 2 holes on the seat to attach the metal to the seat. Then measure the stock holes on the bracket to know where to drill to attach to the OEM bracket. Way I did this so I'd know exactly where it was in the car was to place the seat in the car where I wanted it to be with the bracket BACK IN THE CAR and then marked with a pen where the holes lined up. Took it all back off then drilled the holes. Now slide the bolts you got from Home Depot or Lowe's through the holes you just drilled. And attach the metal to the seat. Also cut about an Inch off the side of the seat where the seatbelt goes so it can move upward to be used.
5) Attach the seat to the bracket. Tighten the nuts down tight with the lock washers, so you don't fall out. Then take the whole get up back to the car and attach the bracket back down to the floor. *If its the driver side reattach the seat belt sensor.*
6) Enjoy *job
If you have any questions, bring um to the board someone else might wanna know the same thing. I'm probably not the best at givin directions but I try What counts right!?
I want to hear some responce on this one guys come on!
when you knocked those pieces off the sliders and the screws out do they still sit level??? also how much lower did they go??? what did u do to the pass side one?? i installed my tom seats on the weekend and they sit to high so i got the front of the sliders cut down where they attach the floor of the car.
chris
Yes with the risers off they sit level. It lowered it about an inch, laugh I know it sounds dumb but they are A LOT more comfertable. Yes they still sit a bit high but still I love it without the risers on the brackets.
did you do anything with the pass side?? or just leave it???
chris
I just left it. It's a higher, but not so much its a problem.
I hoped for a better responce hah *bump*

Go to a junk yard and get the drivers side bracket. Then do the same. The passanger one is way different, 2 pieces, it has that little wire that you have to pull to move the seat foward and back. It just sucks.
1. Doesn't the words rear and back mean the same thing?
2. Did you take the one piece of 1.5"x36" and cut it in half to make two 1.5"x18"?
Thanks
I hope those are seat grade bolts or else when you get in an accident those will snap.

jw but where did you get the toms motorsports seats and how much did you pay?
wish my lexus seats were that easy. Ive tried about 5 times and never could get any thing to work. My seats are just to big and tall for a sunfire. My buddy with a bagged full size is gonna buy them though so i can get some new seats out of some thing else.
I bought um for 250 off a friend. I've heard of them being aroung 280 from TOM Motorsport.
only probvlem is i don't like the aftermarket seats on the stock rails... i've sat ion them in a few Js and i find they sit a little too high... i used the crappy universal rails that come with the seats and i found it sits perfect... a lot lower but with the way the seats are made... it's just perfect... and i'm not even a tall person... i'm 5 8
but on the other hand i will admit the stock rails are much better, stronger and more solid... plus they clamp on both sides, the universal ones only clamp on one saide and they othert side is just a free moving raill... it's not TOTALLY solid but.... still i think i like the universal rails better cause of how low they are
nice write up exactly the way i installed mine..takes me back..a fun memory..seats look great in the car, if u go with 4 pt belts i've got a homemade way to do the install and the price is right. check erods post on the 4 pt belt how to i put an old pic of the install in there. looks much better now. gotta update my pics
as for sitting a little high i agree on that.. on the drivers side i made the brackets longer and bolted directly to the floor bolts. took a while to find the exact fit because now the seat will not slide.
