Its neat and all, but all you need to "build" an auto is

A good pump (4T40's are known for eating pumps)
Quality clutch packs
A good high stall converter
and program your own shift points and line pressure.

I would say that trans is "a little" over priced.

considering a stocker can take quite a bit of abuse and and seeing as how millions of them are out there ripe for the picking for cheap... why blow 4k on one of these?

unless of course it actually takes LESS power to turn the biotch... ??

Are you scared of the changes coming? The answer is on the inside.

Most j-bodies aren't even worth 4k, haha.

Put a real trans in your car if you're that serious.

Chris has it right:

A good pump (4T40's are known for eating pumps)
Quality clutch packs (Raybestos Blue Plate Special Stage-1 Complete Module # RCPS-29)
A good high stall converter(Yank 3000 stall TC, if you can find one, or custom. Some stocks are rated to 2975 rpm stall)
and program your own shift points and line pressure. (H.P. Tuners-Best, B&M ShiftPlus-alt.)

My old 84 "T" truck Blazer was rated at 2200....

I miss that thing.....

Wonder if the older THM125's from the early\late 80's have a higher stall?

so, what does something like this tranny do over stock?(better shifts, longer life, and can take more power?)

A higher stall speed allows you to lauch at a higher rpm, closer to your torque peak, for a quicker launch.

I have to agree 100% with MadJack.
Also maybe a Team Green LSD, and you would be set.

Yes it will fit. Although listed only in the 4T40E section , they list it as 4T40E/45E.

The RCPS-29 is the Stage-1 kit. There is also the RCPBP-29, which is the Gen-2 kit.
