umm, probley a dumb question, but what do the stall converters do, i know absoloutely nothing at all about transmissions so im pretty stupid when it comes to them, so if someone could please give me a little info on everything it woudl help alot, thanks

bringing it back from the dead.. im looking to do some heavy duty trannies cuz the moter will be beefed up soon

2. Team Green LSD << don't know to much about this one but heard it exists.
3. Domestic performance LSD . EXPENSIVE

4. Redline Clutch Packs < have searched but found nothing for us. Someone on here knows how to get them I am sure.
5. The pump issue. Supposedly the pump can flow plenty well. What you can do. Put a thicker machine boss on the pumpshaft instead of a thin wave washer like it has.
6. Level 10 is a ripoff and heard that it isn't as good as people claim.
7. Domestic Performance is good but also expensive but do offer the full trans like Level 10.
8. Shift kit should be used if big power is being made.
9. Fluid is something that is debatable for which one works best but your choices of what I think are the three top are B & M Trick Shift. Redline and Royal Purple.
10. Trans Cooler. A deffinate thing you will need. THe stocker just is not big enough. Look on Jegs.com . they have some pretty good ones for cheap.
This is just a quick run through of what I have come up with so far. I am sure I am missing some crap but at least its a start. I dont know about changing the gears or Nitride or Cryotrete. Another issue that needs to be brought to attention. Hope at least I help someone a little bit.

that sounds about it i bet if someone contacted Redline and aske dthem about the clutches theyd have an answer. id say on the shift kit call B&M and see what they have for a kit that involves the valve body as well as a shiftplus and/or interceptor.
for the lsd that u r talking about, if u get it straight from engineered performance(EP) u can save a couple hundred bucks.

Its crazy how you work matt.....i never hear a word out of you for so long and then when i do its something nuts. Hope the beefing works out for you man. If you need any help let me know. I work with alot of old mechanics that have been around the horn a few times.

I have a 4T65E with a 3.69 ratio with all HD internals. $2,300.00 with the 3000 stall converter. You can make it fit. If you are going to be running that much power, then I don't think a 4T40 is an option.
I looked at that transmission on ebay. There is no way he can ship that for 90.00. Maybe the transmission is broken and he is trying to get some cash out of it.
I really don't think he would be selling something worth your while for that cheap. It doesn't sound right. I would request an invoice and documentation.
It looks that it has a rebuilt Dayco converter in it. The stock axles? Are those rated for 450?

I transmission is in excellent condition, by the way, and I do have an invoice for the full charges of the rebuilt. How many people would "JUMP ON A 4T40E TRANSMISSION FOR $2000?" I can't use it anymore, so I'll get what I can.
Check around with some reputable people on this .org as to my reputation. I don't buy @!#$, build @!#$, or sell @!#$. Ask questions before giving your opinion.
It's the real deal, not many people would fork out $3,000 just to upgrade a transmission. I'm that special person.

A quote to ship it to myself (same address, in town) Fedex frieght with business discount, one pallet, 250 pounds, and insurance. Yes, that was over 90.00 USD.
I ship motors and transmissions all day long.
The shipping quote doesn't even include plastic shrink wrap, tape, pallet, or the labor to do it.

nothing was done to the clutch packs i see on that though.
and it does sound almost to good to be true but as long as your willing to back it up its all good. like as long as, say i bought it and tore it open and found all OEM pieces, that you'd refund me.
Are you telling me that the trans, axles, TC, and fluid inside both the TC and trans is only 150???

well I will chime in because i ALMOST bought this trans in fact has the 900 in hand at the time . Until I talked to a couple people who verified that it was older than he has stated. I was told by kevin that it was only used since 03. I was warned that by them checking his profile a while before that the trans was older than that. Kevin no offence but you were not straight forward about the build and install date until now. That is why I did not purchace it when I said i was going to. I would rather build my own and know what i have rather than take a trans with over 10k on it that I am sure were hard miles. I remember seeing a burnout video of your car iike 3 years ago something like that and you had the trans on allready??? How is it new from late 03 ?????????????? I had the money in hand litrerally

I am not trying to flame you on this one.
You are correct that you should not ship a converter or trans with fluid. It just turns out that many times they do get sent that way, though.
New converters are often intentionally shipped with oil to prevent rust in the case that they are not installed ASAP.
Many of the transmissions I have gotten used had the fluid still in them. On a pallet or skid, it will not usually get tipped enough to make a difference.
However, as far torque converters go... Those boxes almost always get sat in the truck upside down. I swear. Many of those boxes are soaked in oil :-)

the Yank Converter i bought came with fluid in it but had a plug in it to keep it from leaking
