the reason for that is because that resivor is meant to accumulate and hold the fuel for the pump. by cutting it, it can now flow out. no matter what youll have the fuel cut.
a fuel pressure guage is useful in showing the pressure drop as the resivor empties
The black line is the one that connects to the small nipple on top of the pump itself. It then runs to the bottom of the carriage and connects to a one way check valve. The welbro pump will not accomidate the use of the black line that connects to the stock pump. I tried to rig it up to connect to the welbro pump but wasn't successful. I probably could of jb welded the nipple to it and used the check valve to keep the pump purged but keeping a full tank should fix that too. If I do have problems with it, I will drop the tank again and try to come up with something to fix it.
I thought I have seen somewhere else that the Walbro was the pump to use to keep from having fuel cut issues. In this post it seems the 4.3 pump is better for that.
FU Tuning
i put the 4.3 pump in this weekend. at about 1/8 tank i will get fuel cut....not to bad, i usually dont let it get that low anyways
bringing this back from the dead.
i have the blazer pump, anything under a half tank is just horriable, the car bucks and bogs out, and just runs crappy.
put a full tank in and runs 100% better.
i will be ordering the walbro pump here soon, and doing what nick did(he his helping me again) with his link about what the GTP guys use, so u dont have to cut the cup.
i just cant keep driving the car till a half tank and filling up. that is no fun.
plus after the blazer pump install/ trying to get my focking stock sheit out the sencond time around will be so f'n easy!!.
i will keep u all' updated.
from what I have read this pump ( the walbro gss340m) is discontinued. what to do now??? is there a simalar one to get or just go with the blazer pump?
that is what the guy told me,
nick showed me which one to order, i forget
e mail him
the walbro gss340m has been discontinued and replaced by the F20000169 dont get the blazer pump.
you dont have a price on that pump do you

Yes, thats the correct one...its also the same one I'm using. Everything you need will come in that kit, the pump and the wiring harness adapter. Just have to mess with the accordian tubes and that silly brass nipple. Other than that its easy.
Is it absolutely neccessary to cut the cup? I really don't care if I have a little fuel cut below 1/4. Does anyone else have any pics of their install?
1998 Cavalier Z24
i didnt cut my cup..i put it back the exact same way the stock one was in..only modifications is the brass nipple i had to form out of i think it was 3/16th brake line...i cut it down to like a 1/2 inch and jammed in the orphis to make a nipple. then re-connected the line that goes on that nipple...and i had to jam some rubber in between where the pump sits so that it doesnt move around..its a tad smaller then the stock one in diameter. No fuel cutoff what so ever...but if you think about it...why would it?? its sitting the exact same way the stock one was /shrug..everything is connected to it like the stock one was =p
I now own Alex16cavs Car and it still have the fuel pump in it. I fuel cut pretty bad when i romp on it below a 1/4 and its not even turboed anymore. Stock fuel pressure and stock injectors etc.
Just thought id add that...I dont have the time to REread this thread but if he said he did something and it FIXED it....well, it didnt
alright my turn to post here....ive having some MASSIVE fuel starvation issues when i up the pressure past 10PSI. im running the stock in tank plus a booster pump from Hahn. Will this walbro pump help me out any in getting my damn a/f ratio off 14.1:1 at WOT? im installing a SAFC at the same time.
also can someone post the proper part numbers and possibly some directions for a eco install? i really dont wanna cut the cup so can i get away without doing that?

Confirmed. I did the same exact thing last summer. No fuel cut at all and everything acts like it's stock.

Why would you install a boost pump on a system with a main pump that can't handle much more flow over stock? The in-tank pump is definitely your problem. The install and parts are exactly the same as the rest of the j-bodies. Just follow the advice from Deekster Jones and you should be fine.

why? because i installed the kit directly as sent from Hahn Racecraft. Thats why. Of course they have received a slightly upset call from me this morning about this.
Now is the 255lph pump the same for every car just with a different install kit? My buddy bought 2 when he was building a couple DSMs but sold one of the cars before he used it so he's offering it to me to use along with a SAFC to make this run right. Anyone think that will get me off 14.19:1 a/f under boost? LOL!
but hey...she made 177HP and 200lb/ft @ 4300RPM with a 13.9 a/f. We had to cut the run at 4300 because the car went right back to 14.6:1.

I'd buy a new one. The ends on some of the pumps are different.

Call them and tell them you want a pump and install kit for a 00+ cavalier.
