LSJ M-62 mani? (LD9)
Wednesday, February 07, 2007 5:52 PM
I have been thinking of doing this for some time now,

Why not just take a LSJ intake manifold and weld a on a LD9 (or for you 086 people a HO) flange?

The one problem i see (for now, that’s why I am posting this) is that it sits low, and may hit the alternator and the oil filter....

Ideas?

Thanks
OH ya my cost on this is 450$ with the after cooler.
Chris

wouldn't it cause the same problem as the people wanting to do the Ho mani on a ecotec...the port spacing is differnet?

Not "only" would the port spacing on the runners be different, but I would also worry that the manifold might have to translate to the left or right so that the charger pulley lines up with the rest of the accessory belt, making it that much harder to port match the 2.3/2.4 flange to the lsj manifold.

I say take some measurements and give it a try.

You know I am interested. I think someone looked at this before and thinks there might be a rad clearance issue as well

There was a post about the 2.3 manifold on the Ecotec. A guy has done it and had pictures. I do not know what he did to make it work, but it did. I would think with that this could be done. If you aftercooled the charger on a LD9 much power to be made.

There is usually a manifold posted on Ebay every couple of weeks.

seeing as its not intended for the 2.4, I'm guessing its going to take some 'creativity and ingenuity' to make it work

^ Oh no, not at all Brian, like he said, my spelling is a direct show of how I am not fabricating a LSJ M62 supercharger man"I"fold to work on a LD9.

Moving on,
In that pic, you can see a good amount of the manifold, I know I will have to move my oil filter, and make a new Oil to air separator. But I think the real issue MAY be the starter.....

Any ideas?

Thanks again;

Chris

Is that whole "gas-tank" looking thing you see below the charger part of the manifold (possibly housing an aftercooler)? If so...

I have never seen an lsj manifold in person, so it is hard for me to get an idea of exactly how big it is. I was thinking that you could possibly mount it upside down, but from the pictures, it looks like your hood wouldn't close then.
