Oil catch can install
Sunday, October 01, 2006 9:14 PM
Got around to doing this over the weekend. I hate those filters everyone loves to put on there crank case breathers, You call me stupid but I think those things need some vacume to them so I like to keep them hooked to the intake. Down side is the oil and oil vapors that make it into the TB and charger. Oil catch can is the fix! Can is made by BWoody (Cobalt/redline/srt4 parts maker).

Anywho have some dirty pics...

Hmm says $49.95 on the Bwoody website.. Is something I have though about but not found one that I like yet. nice thing is that lack of ABS gives me a great mount location.

Yea. the line to the left that goes under the charger is running to the nipple on the cam cover.

Yeah I was gonna ask what Brian asked... I don't even see a fluid level check on it. How do you check it / Drain it? Just pour it out the inlet/outlet?

per the website, you drain it with each oil change, there is no way to check it. To drain it you disconnect it, tip it over, and reinstall. Done this way to "redcue the chance of leaks" (website quote).

You need vaccuum, so you can tee off any vaccuum source.

Thats a great idea!

This will defenatly solve my problem with that damn @!#$ty breather filter, that likes to spray oil all over on the underside of my hood.

I have a question though, after looking on the BWoody site, how do you dump it out?
It must just come out of those two nipples?

Aaron, did you just simply bend the lip, or did it come bent?

may I ask something how is this catch can post to work?

Re: Oil catch can install

it catches all the blowby that the PCV doesn't stop and prevents it from going into the engine.

Re: Oil catch can install

It's funny how everyone thinks the PCV needs vacuum. If you notice, the only time oil comes out is under boost when there is POSITIVE pressure, not negative pressure or vacuum. Take a hose, stick it on the nipple, stick the other on a catch can and your done. No vacuum needed people.

Your trying to catch the oil being pushed out, not suck it out. Commen sense.
