lots of people will say run new fuel pump but i say you dont have to.... i have run 10psi on the GM supercharger daily drive on stock fuel pump no problems at all with 310cc injectors... as well 13psi on turbo+supercharger set up and no problems at all on stock fuel pump... as well there is some one on here with a silver cavalier turboed running stock fuel pump @15psi of boost and he says his air fuel ratios are fine..... and if you ask around i bet you more then then a hand full of people are running with stock fuel pump and 10+ psi of boost... if you want to do any thing get a inline fuel pump just to boost it up some... but for the boost levels you are probably going to run the stock one is fine...

silver car - 305whp 315lbs.tq @15psi (91 Octane) or 420whp & 425lbs.TQ @20psi (94 octane+Alcohol Injection)
All dynos run on a Mustang dyno

Alright guys, need to weed through the bull@!#$ and get to the facts...

When do you need a new fuel pump?
Well, its simple, you will need an aftermarket fuel pump any time your fuel pressure will need to go above 80 PSI in the rail. You can run the calculations with your injectors, but if you need more than 80 PSI to be safe, then you need a new fuel pump. It has nothing to do with how much horsepower you make, how many PSI you are running, or what turbo/supercharger you have, its purely based on the amount of pressure that the pump needs to put out. The stock pump is NOT reliable above 80 PSI for any length of time.

So, next time somebody asks if the fuel pump needs to be replaced, you can say, based on the base fuel pressure, boost, and the FMU multiplier, if that number goes above 80 PSI for safe fuel, then yes, you need one, otherwise chances are you will not.

LOL....

I have my fmu at 12:1 gain and 370cc's and 10 psi and my stock fuel pump is awesome.. but I can def tell via my FP gauge that under full boost the FP hits 75... and then dips down.. oddly enough as it goes down my A/f's get better

ever thought you were running too rich? and are you using a wideband or narrowband a/f meter?

12:1 @ 10psi that would be 40 (base pressure) + 120psi (RR) = 160psi to the injectors? not sure a walboro HP 255LPH pump can do that let alone a stock one.

Although straining your pump that much won't necassary wreck it, it cann't be good for it. Your FP is likely dropping because your stock pump can only pump a few LPH at such a high pressure, it would be wiser to get a wideband and have something come on smoother, say a 4:1 or adjustable. likely would gain some midrange power too.

I am running perfect a/fs I have a wideband

ge? how would a wideband have somethign come on smoother? I can turn it down but why change something that works? and if ym pump cant push 160 it wont, secondly my base is at 32...

it's been working this way for a year now and no problems...

I was saying maybe if you got a 4:1 or something like that maybe the FP would rise smoother, instead of jumping up and flatening out, but if this works, don't change it, I've found that with my 2 other turboed J-body's.

I was trying to say that your pump is basically dead heading, and could cause problems, happy to see it is not.
