well....im runnin a stock radio w/ my 2 10's and amp, some dudes at circuit city or best lie will tell you that you need an fm modulator, but thats , you need this device that hooks into you audio cables and then you can solder them to your existing speaker wires, it's pretty easy and sounds great in my car, sometimes it too damn loud i cant hear a thing.

and it so clean, no one wants to jack a stock radio. at least not anyone smart.

I am running my stock radio to a Pioneer amp. You need, I believe, a converter filter. This item takes the output of the stock radio and changes it to an RCA output to go into an amp if the amp only has RCA inputs. This converter also matches the line levels to insure you do not have clipping of the audio signal going into the amp. Someone else may know the correct item name, but I do know they work great. Have had them on my system for 5 years now.

you need a LINE OUTPUT CONVERTOR

also known as a LOC

i would suggest the trunk loc from PAC...it not only gives you rca outputs, but also gives you a 12V remote turn on for you amp.

so that's what i got going on with my LOC. i know that the 2 white and grey wires are for the speaker tap... the black one is for the power tap... but what about the two brown ones, the yellow, and the green wire coming from the converter? are those wires left alone??

[the wires i speak of are ...
in the bottom left corner of the 1st pic.
and at the top center of the following pic]

btw. i'm using a peripheral interface component - for the LOC.

Is it a PAC-LOC? The link here shows the wiring diagram.

yea you need a LOC or a "hight to low".....basically they just connect to your existing speakers wires and you got your rca coming out. easy to just hook it up in the trunk....cuz theres very little room behind the radio

yea i know about the LOC's. i know how they work, i just got a lil confused as far as which wires meant what..the one i have is a PERIHERAL... not the same as the PAC LOC [on the link]..but it's cool. I figured it out. Thanks for the efforts though!

Not trying to Hijack the thread or anything, but I'm also thinking of running a Rockford Fosgate Amp off of my stock 2004 AC Delco deck. The amp already has a build in LOC mechanism, but I need a way to run a Remote wire off of a something that will turn the amp on or off. What wire should I tap into? Should I tap into a +12V Switchable Source, or is there an Antenna/remote wire on the Wire Harness I can splice into to get this to work? I'm planning on using the amp to power the rear 6x9s and the amp can take the speaker lines directly...
Any ideas? I read somewhere in the Search form that 2003+ J-bodies don't have a +12V switchable power source in the wire harness anymore. You have to go into the ignition switch in the steering column. Is that true? I'm sooooo confused

the easyiest way is to but an amp with speaker level input
the great thing is all you need to run from the front of the car is the power cable and then run the speaker wires from the rear speakers to the approperate leads on the amp
most amps have them equiped as of now.
