New System!

Sup guys

I posted in the newbie forums and was told to come here and ask some of my questions...so here goes

I am wanting to set up a system in my car. I think I am going to get all Audiobahn equipment. I am looking at two deals on eBay for Dual 12" Audiobahn AW1251T Subs.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SUBS

(Total: $231) Audiobahn AW1251T 12" Subs - Incl. Box, Neons, Tweeters, Wiring (without the amp, asked seller and got this price without it)

(Total: $171) Audiobahn AW1251T 12" Subs - Incl. Box, Tweeters

The only difference between the two that I personally see are the neon lights and wiring. Are those two items worth the $60 difference?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD PLAYER

I am really interested in this:

(Total: $129.99) Audiobahn A1100N CD MP3 XM Player + Remote + FREE Installation Accessories

It seems to me like a great deal. Does anyone know that when it says 'MP3' that it would work with my iPod?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For the amp, I need your help. Just let me know which Audiobahn amp would be good with the subs above.

That is all for now, I will be replacing the front speakers soon too, but for now I am looking at the above.

Thanks!

I just called a local automotive audio place near me...they are really well known and good. The owner is one of the top 100 in the country and everything. He said it would be $60 labor for the CD player, and like $75 for the amp + subs. I really don't want to have to fork out almost $150 in installation...but I don't know. Let me get some input from you guys (good deal? look around for other installers? ect.)

Oh and for prices id go with the cheaper one 60 more dollars for a wiring kit neons and tweeters is not worth it imo. but then again Im a cheap person and id really recomend doing it your self its not that hard at all, Im one of the people who likes to poke at stuff to see what makes it tick if you get fustrated quick then u might wanna pay the 75 bucks or what ever it is to get it installed really up to you I think you could do it though read up on it research.

Oh and to your other question to the mp3 it mean if you burn an mp3 cd it will play it not meaning it will work with your ipod. Gl with what ever choise ya make

Yeah, I know a couple people that I think know how to install the stuff. I just don't want anything to get screwed up ya know. Anyways, I think it is a little pricey...I think they should only charge like $100 max fee if I bring the CD player, Subs, and Amp in all at once...specially since I will be providing the mounting kit and wiring harness for the CD player AND the tweeters for the sub ect.

Also, they don't carry Audiobahn so in a way they basically told me Kenwood is better (which they do carry) but it is a LOT more expensive then the deals I've found on eBay. The installation is cheaper, but definitly not as much as the difference between the price of the items.

I see you agree with me as far as going with the one without neons and all the other stuff that really doesn't seem worth $60...not to mention the cheaper one seems to have a better seller.

Yeah, I figured the MP3 question out...I'll just have to buy some sort of adapter or something for my iPod...but the MP3 feature is still a must...it's not that I download music illegally or anything

PS. This forum needs a edit button so we don't have to post like 3 replies in a row

all you gotta do when messing with your cars eleronics is remember every colored wire goes with its own color and never with another one and take your negative cable off your battery before u go poking at stuff. again gl

Need a quick reply!

What do you guys think of this CD player compared to the other? I think it is better and currently it is cheaper but the auction still has 4 hours left.

Well, the second one is more powerful and has better pre-amps (5v rather than 2v) but IMO it doesn't look as nice. I'm not one for silver headunits, but I'd still get the second one and then take it apart and paint it lol. It's also got two remotes, etc.

Thanks Roughed

I'll keep an eye on it...if it goes above $150 I'll just get the other one.

Update:

I got a friend that can hook everything up for me for free (woot!).

Also, if someone could link me to an Audiobahn amp that is powerful enough for the subs above, I would highly appreciate it.

Thanks

You get what you pay for on installation jobs. I don't install anything for free because of the time I put into putting everything in right.

Well, it's not an issue anymore...I have a friend that has hooked up his own and other peoples system so he knows what he is doing. I'll be watching and helping the whole time so I will know in the future

Also, just wanted to confirm that the speakers in a Sunfire are 4x6's in front, 6x9's in back correct? Thanks again everyone...cant wait to get this all put together.

Be careful with that amp, you'll blow those cheap subs pretty quick. Yes, 4x6 and 6x9.

The subs are 800w and the amp is only 600w :\

Would they blow easily...?

Also, if you think they are cheap, why? I would like to know because I haven't made any purchases and I am willing to look into more things.
