I'm officially convinced that Autoloc products were engineered and assembled in a 2nd grade special ed classroom.
Last night I went to the store and tried to open my door with a push of a button, only to find out later that the whole pulling mechanism was completely dislodged from the solenoid itself. After ripping it apart today, I found little plastic pieces falling out all over (and a few rattling inside). It seems the brilliant minds of Autoloc built a bullet proof solenoid, but held it all together with a 1/16" thick (...or more appropriately, 1/16" thin) plastic clip. Genius.
So I've had enough. I ordered a Spal solenoid as a replacement, and I will never buy nor recommend anything Autoloc again. (/rant)
theres a company on ebay, i forgot who they were, but they offer a lifetime warranty on the solenoids and they are rated at 50lbs. i sold my kit to lundis, which actually had one toasted solenoid i had no idea about. but i sold th ekit cheap, so i believe he made out and got his solenoid replaced no charge, but you can check with him and make sure
however the 6-channel remote system thing from autoloc worked great

That's because it's made by Stellar, not Autoloc
What have you heard about Spal? I've never heard of them until today. I've always been happy with the one autoloc I had till it finally gave out after about 3 years....
If they've started making crap, I need to go somewhere else....

Sorry, I believe I have only been responding while on my pain meds from my surgery last week... so I completly forgot about this!
I'm just heard Spal was better through various car forums and some guys I work with. Ok, let me correct that, I've heard/read up on many problems with Autoloc solenoids, but not many on Spal. Plus, I've had issues with 2 solenoids now. I wish I took pictures of me hacking into the autoloc solenoid with a grinder. Maybe if the other one goes bad, I'll remember to take pictures.

I'm sure the same people that designed/assembled the solenoids didn't touch the alarm... I don't know how segregated the company is, but if it is like most multi-line companies, the operations have nothing in common but the investors and some management.
I'm not saying that Stellar products are all that great. But the quality of Autoloc's solenoids don't seem to coincide with the cost.
I used to install spal all of the time at my last job and we never had a problem. But there always seem to be the very few that always get the bad stuff.
