blew up the 2.4 for the 2nd time. looking to do a motor swap with either a 3800... how hard is it to put the 3800 in and is there a manual tranny to fit it. i am not worried about the wiring yet, just looking to get the motor and tranny in the car, am i going to have to fab up brackets??? i know some have done this, and if their is a page on the net it would be a big help.

You need to make a custom subrame and mounts. You can hook it up to a manual tranny, but you would need to use the tranny from a 2.2. DEFINATELY dont go with the 95-99 Isuzu tranny, it MIGHT last a week. Mine is a 96 and i put a 2002 getrag tranny in it when i put in the 3800sc. Go to www.dreammachinesltd.com and look in the portfolio section, my car is the only sunfire in there. There are detailed pics of how the frame was made.

You can use any tranny for a 2.2 or 2.8/3.1. You'll also have to have a 3.8 F-body flywheel, and machine it down to the thickness of the 2.2/3.1 flywheel so you can use it.

Or you could do a 3100/3400 swap and avoid the whole problem of adding more frame to the car.

I thought I posted that already.

hmmmm well that sounds like i could just put a 3100 in it pretty simple then....IF i can get a good tranny for cheap, the only reason why i ask about the swap the 3800 is cuse i found a 3800sc with like 200km's on it for a really cheap price......car was drove off the lot and went down the road and slide sideways in to a pole.... @!#$ty for them but good for me

Uhm, look ay what I wrote, I said that i used a getrag tranny. So yeah, the 2.2 getrag tranny bolts up.

The 2.2/2200 shares the same bolt pattern as the 3.1/3100 , 3.4/3400 , 3.8/3800 . Yeah I am sure the V6 will bolt up to the Getrag or even the Isuzu for that matter . LOL

200KM on a cheap engine ? What are they going to sell it for ? with that many miles I would shop around and see who has what and at what price . I would rather pay a little more when doing the swap with a lower mileage engine .

You don't get much lower mileage than that. I think you read it as 200K miles, but I read it as 200 kilometers. He also mentioned it was right off the lot, so I'd tend to think it's the lower number.
